I've recently split up with my long time girlfriend. The whole thing lasted the bones of four years but we spent just over one year in the same country. The problem was quite simple really. My ex hated living in Luxembourg, the country we both met in and as I'd just landed a dream job that was very important for my career, we kept passing each other like ships in the night. I decided that this couldn't continue and we both decided to move to London. The real kicker is that Rose, my ex, got a job teaching at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg so she was over here in London only one month in three. This has lead me to be on my own most of the time as I've not many friends over here. Finally I got sick of the whole thing and decided to call it quits, move back to Luxembourg and be around my friends and family. Anyway, the whole experience has been pretty traumatic for me and I'd be in much worse shape but for one person.
I met Jacky at summer camp as a teen. She was still a child back then so I didn't hang out with her much but ten years later, while visiting a mutual friend in Dublin, we hooked up and let me tell you, this little minx rocked my world! Unfortunately the relationship didn't last and we ended up breaking contact. Seven years go by and we get talking on facebook, of all places. Anyway, she had just finished a tour around the world and was having issues with her asshole boyfriend. I helped where I could, trying to give comfort and advice when needed so when the shit hit the fan with my latest relationship, Jacky was more than happy to repay the favor.
Gorgeous, isn't she?
I'm leaving London on the 31st of March and since I posted this on facebook, I've been getting emails from Jacky in which she tells me how much she's looking forward to seeing me. Frankly, I'm starting to get my hopes up that we can kick things off again as I've never really forgotten her. I've got a bunch of things planned, like flowers and a meal. Hopefully I'm not reading the situation wrong as I've already made a large enough fool of myself moving to London in the first place.
