Clearly, people will have different opinions but I'd recommend you get a Mac. Then, plug in an external drive for Time Machine (the most easy best personal backup software on the planet IMHO) and if you have a crash your entire machine can be rebuilt from the backup in minutes. I also use Time Machine to migrate to new machines. It makes backing up painless and even searching for files you might have accidentally deleted a snap to get back. With the new OS they're even supporting versioning for files.
