i am dealing with some super stupid shit right now. A few weeks ago I noticed some fraudulent charges in my bank statement, I called, got them refunded, and canceled my card and got a new one. I had no idea how it could have happened. I never lost my card or gave it to someone, and all these charges are from local places. my only thoughts were either vile hacker in my neighborhood who someone has my email and passwords and everything, or someone at work went through my purse. anyways, i got a new card and thought it was done....

well just now i looked at my bank statement and found three new charges!!! mad I don't want to cancel my card again, and obviously that isn't going to fix anything. how the fuck is this happening!?!?!?! what did i do? is it someone from work? is it a scary hacker situation? how do i fix this?

I would say its time for a new bank. The only thing i can think of is someone has you hacked or there is an RFID chip in your card and you got too close to someones scanner and they scanned your card. They can do that even if the card is in your wallet, purcse or pocket.
If you go the new card route, ask for a card without the chip if possible. The only other thing i can think of is to go through all the sites you frequent and change all your passwords.....

Also if you go to the same mac machine ofter or gas station they put those strip stealing things on there. But yeah you have to call again and perhaps change account number not just a new card.

Yup, check where you shop - it's possible they're hacking it wirelessly or they've put a widget on top of the actual machine to grab your number.

Or even more basic, if you use your debit card everywhere, keep an eye on the people, one of THEM might be stealing it.

*hugs*

i went to the bank and cancled my card again. the woman there said it looked like someone had been using my card number, not my bank number. I've pretty much narrowed it down to either someone at work or the gas station i go to. i am gonna just go with cash for now on and be extra careful with my purse/wallet. if i still get charges after this, then i will change my account.

Even if they don't have a widget a worker at a place can easily take your card and write the number down or do a quick imprint. Its always a good idea not to let the card get out of your sight at most places.

Same thing happened to me...You have to close the account completely...The bank will make it sound as though you have a virus on your computer, but it's really on THEIR side,,,One of the guys I dealt with when this happened confided to me, after 3 new cards in as many weeks, that they could see new activity on a card that was sent to me but was still in the mail...which means the program was working off of their computer, not mine...Shut it down and get a new bank/card...

BUT, if you haven't had your computer scanned professionally, it's probably a good time...BUT back all files up to an external hard drive before you take it in...If there IS a sneaky virus or malware, they may have to blank your HD...and reinstall...also, take off any porn...it tends to distract the technician...smile

Man whenever something has to do with your money, that's the worst feeling in the world! I'm really sorry. Hope it gets better soon.
