I met or was forced to meet a very annoying soul at a holiday party this weekend.
I was chatting with a friend about that Christmas song that goes, "Simply having...a wonderful Christmas time." I have always loathed that song. In fact, I don't think I've ever had a choice of liking that song or not...my body just shivers when I hear it. I'm allergic to that song. I just can't stand it.
Anyway I found out recently that Paul McCartney does that song. I was shocked (even though I'm not a big PM solo fan...) But anyway, this guy jumps into our conversation which is very light-hearted in spirit and says, "People like you guys are the problem, man. I don't listen to the radio. I only listen to news and old vinyl that people give me."
Uh, great.
We told him that we don't choose to listen to the radio but you can't help hear Christmas music in stores and such. Of course, that's when he told us to "Stop going to corporate establishments, man."
We explained to him that we were just having a joking around dumb conversation anyway. And he said, "The more energy you give that Paul McCartney song, the more you'll hear it." And then went on to explain 'energy' to us.
Not even free wine is worth a headache like him.
Happy Holidays!
