long overdue update on mah love life

some of you have been requesting some more posts about my poly relationship, so here is a brief kind of overview

i've been married to my husband for 15 years now, and with our boyfriend for over a year. we are a polyfidelitous triad.

i feel that we have the best of everything. dual, concurrent, honest, loving and stable relationships, and truly wild and exciting sex. i get the stability and security x2, and earth-shattering sex. not to imply that the kind of sex found in traditional long term monagamous marriages can't be earth shattering, but wild menage-a-trois is more like... an event

and i am fulfilled. i've never been content as simply a wife and mother, my definition of self must be more than what i provide for others, and i need to explore my sexuality. i love sex, i love being intimate with others, and i can't see myself ever being fulfilled or honest in a traditional marriage. and for me, that is the key, honesty.

now, i'm no moralist arguing for complete transparency in relationships, in fact i believe that human's ability to deceive each other is an important trait we've developed for survival. but, since i also believe that my body and sexuality and persona are not the property of my husband, i've struggled through our 20 year relationship to find the relationship model that works for us. and, luckily, i have a husband who is patient and forgiving and sexually adventurous enough to want to be with me.

now, in my mid 30's, i have settled down into essentially a plural marriage. i have two mates, both incredibly dedicated and hard working, family oriented men. i actually have at least one moment every day that i marvel at how fucking lucky i am.

our kids have a stable and incredibly loving family. there is always someone there for them, and between the three of us, we can meet all their needs. i remember how frustrated i would get being a strung out parent with no time off. no sitters, no breaks. now we take turns making dinner, providing homework help, even sharing playtime with the boys. i really don't know how we did it as a nuclear family of two parents.
