i'm still hoping for that big earthquake that will float the rest of the country into the atlantic ocean.
halloween is, without a doubt, the best holiday ever invented. the streets of san francisco are mobbed with people dressed up as everything imaginable. we just got back from watching children whore it out for a sugar rush (NOTE: children are only cute when they're dressed up as dead things) in the local mommy/stroller neighborhood. highlights: pets dressed up as other animals, parking karma, the macarena, scary garages, evil mimes, hagrid.
next stop: castro street halloween party, along with hundreds of thousands of other people. will there be more men dressed as ladies or as frat boys? only time will tell.
olivia says that carrying around a magic wand is taking the edge off of her hatred of crowds. i have to admit, the ability to cast people out of existence would sometimes come in handy.

i'm listening to a collection of 1920s swing that was downloaded from itunes. there's something delightful about hearing crackly record noise coming out of an mp3.
i'm playing with a rubik's cube for the first time since they came out in the 80s, but i'm just as clueless about how to solve it now as i was then. i keep turning it one way and turning it back the other way, getting closer and closer to feeling like i'm on the way to really figuring it out this time. i try every approach, from the rational and objective (approaching the cube as a three dimensional matrix of primary colors) to the intuitive (feeling the morphic field of the cube and bringing my mind and body in resonance with its cumulative patterns of rotation), but in the end, i'll probably just end up peeling off all the stickers.
