Damn it has been crazy busy.

Work is absolutely insane. I have way to much shit to do and need to get it worked out so that it isn't so overwhelming. All of our West Coast people got together last week to get new software etc. We met down in Orange County and all hung out for a couple days of training. We were taken out to dinner on the Tuesday night and then went to Dave and Busters afterwards to get our drink on, play some pool and some shuffleboard. It is always fun to interact with your co-workers that way. I am a mean shuffle board player once i get going.

My wife and I went to see 300 on Imax a couple weeks ago, it was pretty sweet. We both enjoyed the movie. It was very gratuitous in respect to the violence, sexuality etc. Nothing wrong with that though. It makes for an entertaining couple of hours. We also helped my wife's Mom move. She got new furniture from Ikea so we spent the day assembling that and getting things moved for her.

Monday the 26th I went with my wife and Friends to see the Tragically Hip play at the Fillmore. They are one of my favorite Canadian bands and they put on a killer show as usual. They come around about once every 2 years so I was glad I was around to catch the show. It's much nicer seeing them play in a venue like the Fillmore compared to being in the nose bleeds of a 20000+ stadium in Canada.

We didn't do much this weekend. Friday we went to visit my Wife's best friend Carrie who was visiting from Oregon. She is having a baby and wanted to come home to visit friends and family so it was nice to see her and her husband. My wife absolutely adores her and they are just such good people. My wife and I have both been sick so we just took the rest of the weekend easy. My wife's car died on Saturday. It was the battery so we got a new one and put it in to get it running again.

I went to poker at Lou's last night. It was the first time in a couple weeks that I have been able to go. I made 65 dollars and won 3 very nice cigars so it was a decent take for the evening.

I hope the sickness goes away soon as I want to be able to enjoy the up coming weekend.

This past weekend was a good weekend. It's always nice when St.Patricks day falls on a weekend.

Poker at Lou's went well Friday night. I was second in the first game and I won the second game. Making 80 bucks for the night.

Saturday My wife and I went to dinner with Chett and Katie, then we headed to McNally's pub in Oakland for the St.Patties Day festivities. We had a few brews and enjoyed the bag pipers and drummers that came through to play from time to time. It's a little hole in the wall place but it was packed and it has a lot of character. We frequent the place as often as we can get down that way and have always liked it.

Sunday I just kind of hung out for a bit. My wife took her Mom to Ikea to shop for furniture. She is moving into a new place next weekend and most of her stuff is really outdated. She was excited to be getting new furniture and to be moving to a new place. I met them for dinner later in the afternoon and then we just took it easy for the rest of the night.

Monday night poker didn't go as well. I didn't cash at all for only the second time playing at Lou's. I guess I really can't expect to win all the time.

I played in a $1 dollar tourney on Absolute on Tuesday. Out of 582 people I made it to 12th place. The cards went very cold for a very long time at the wrong time. 12th paid 27 bucks which I guess is good for a 1 dollar investment but not as nice as the $625 for first place would have been. All in all though, I played very well through out and was pleased with my play.

Wow it's been a while and have I been busy.

Work has been totally crazy. It's awesome that my best friend is working with me again, but we have been going around to the accounts that belonged to the guy that quit and we have since found out he hasn't been to them in anywhere from 3 to 6 month. He may have quit in February, but in reality he quit last August. The places are in bad shape and have some very pissed off people. I am really surprised we didn't get fired form places. It will be rough the next couple of months trying to get everything back in line and re-building relationships with the customers but then hopefully things will calm down.

My wife's sister asked that we take care of her daughter during the week. She felt she was unable to get the help she needed for her eating disorder and be a mom at the same time. Since taking this on, we found out that our Niece has missed 80+ days of school this year already. Everyone around my wife's sister had offered to help by picking her up to take her to school and to bring her home but the help was refused. Shit like that just pisses me off. I can get that someone has their own issues and maybe they aren't in a state to do things for themselves. But when it comes to your child, if people are offering the help you need, accept it. The only person losing out is the child and that just isn't fair. On top of that crap, we took our niece in so that she could get to school on a regular basis and so that my wife's sister could get the help she needed. Instead she has just not gone to her appointments and just constantly lies about what she has or hasn't done. She lies so much I really don't believe a word that comes out of her mouth. At this point she could tell me the sky is blue and I would probably not believe that even though it would be the truth. It's going to be a constant battle for some time to come. I just hope that everyone gets the help they need and that everyone gets better. Because right now, it's just way to much crazy for people to handle.

I've continued playing poker on Monday and Friday nights and I have continued to do well. With the exception of 1 night were I got sucked out on and didn't cash at all, I have at worst broke even and for the most part I come home ahead. Regardless of who wins or loses though, everyone is easy to get along with and it is just a fun time overall.

So it's Friday and a new Clio set has gone live. That is always a great start to the weekend.

This weekend is the barrel tasting weekend up in Healdsburg. My wife and I and a couple of friends are going to spend the weekend at the wineries and probably end up spending way to much money. It's always a good time though and it's great to be able to taste wines out of the barrels and see how they taste at different points of the manufacturing process.

The weekend went well. We played poker Saturday at Chett's place with my former co-workers. It was nice to have the chance to take their money again. I won the first game and 80 bucks and the second game was running late so when it got to heads up with Chett and I, we decided to chop the rest of the money and pocket 55 each. $95 bucks profit from the night is fine by me. My wife did ok but she really didn't get many cards all night. It was fun but it was awkward since I work for a competing company now. You can tell that they are nice to my face but don't care to be around me all that much.

Things will get awkward for Chett very soon as well. He has been interviewing with my company and they made him a formal job offer today. He will likely be giving his notice in the very near future. The company he works for is very petty and vengeful so they won't take it that well. In the end though, he is doing what's right for him. The company has screwed people over in the past, no need for him to wait around and get screwed himself. It will be nice having my best friend working in the same company again.

We spent Sunday at Chett's as well for the Super Bowl. As usual it was a bad football game. We just relaxed though. Had some wine, some beer, some cigars and some Starbucks cream liquor. I'm not a fan of Coffee and I hate Starbucks even more but damn that shit is nice on ice.

It's going to be a busy week with various Quarterly reviews at work so it will be nice once Friday is here and I can sleep in on the weekend and play some poker at Lou's.

Weekends are so much better than weekdays.

Not much has happened this past week. I went to Lou's to play poker on Monday. I took second place and 40 bucks. It was my fourth time playing there and I have cashed all four times.

My work week was busy. I did a lot of driving as I had to go to Sacramento a couple times and I was in San Jose the rest of the week.

Last night my wife and I went to Lou's to play poker. We played 2 games. I won the first and my wife went out on the bubble. In the second game I finished second and my wife finished 3rd. Overall we won 180 bucks for a 100 dollar profit. I think they are getting frustrated that I am winning all the time and even more so now that my wife is beating them. She doesn't have the passion for the game that I do but she enjoys it from time to time and plays well.

My wife and I are going over to one of our friends place tonight. We will be playing poker with several of my former co-workers so it will probably be a little awkward. They are nice to my face but I know that they are not too fond of me since I quit a year ago. Either way though, we will make the most of it, have a good time and hopefully take some of their money.

Tomorrow of course is the Super Bore, I mean bowl. My wife and I are going to go and watch the game at our Friend Chett and Katie's house. Chett just got a new big screen plasma TV and they want to break it in. We will probably do some BBQ and just relax with a few glasses of wine and beer. If we are really lucky, maybe the game will be good and there will be some funny commercials. Either way, time spent with friends is always enjoyable.

Poker!!

This weekend was a good poker weekend. I played Friday night at Lou's. We played two games. I won the first game and 80 bucks and I finished 3rd in the second game for a take of 30. All in all not a bad night. What was amazing is in the first game, I was down to 400 chips after taking a bad beat with 3 players left. With 20000 chips total around the table I mounted one hell of a comeback to take first place. It really goes to show all you need is a chip and a chair.

Saturday my wife and I picked up our Niece Maddie. We took her to San Francisco for the day. We went to the Steinhart Aquarium on Howard Street. They had a Dinosaur exibit going on which wasn't that great to be honest but the fish were pretty cool. They fed the penguins while we were there and we got to see all sorts of other fish. They are building a new location in Golden Gate Park. I guess they used to be located there and this is their temporary location while the new facility is constructed. It then came to my mind as to how hard it must be to move all the fish and other animals they have safely.

Sunday I went over to Eric's to play some poker. I cashed in the first game and busted out on the bubble in the second. I broke even for the day from a cash stand point but it was a good time. I spent the evening with my wife just relaxing and watching TV.

I took my wife to the Speakeasy Theatre this weekend. She had been wanting to go for a long time so I surprised her. We went to see Stranger than Fiction with Will Ferrell and then we stayed for the second show which was Borat. Both movies were pretty funny. It was cool to sit in the theatre, drink beer, have dinner and relax in a love seat. It's also nice to only have to pay 5 bucks for a movie.

We spent Sunday just cleaning the house, watching some football and relaxing. We BBQ'ed for dinner and had some wine.

I got tickets to see The Tragically Hip play at the Fillmore on March 26th. It can't get here soon enough now.

I'll be going to Mission Pipe Shop tonight to play some poker. Now that football is over they are going to play movies so we will see what they show. It's always a fun night and hopefully I will win at poker.

Friday!!. The weekend is here and that is always a good thing.

About a year ago I left the company I used to work for because they tried to totally screw over one of the employees there. I didn't like what went down so I got the other employee and myself a job at a competing company. My best friend however was left behind working at the old crappy place. I had been trying to get him a job at my company and it looks like things are hopefully going to finally work out. He had talked with them before christmas and they called him today to set up an interview etc. They called me to see what I though of bringing him on and they sounded very interested and eager to persue him. Hopefully they will like him and hopefully he will take the job. It will be alot better having a friend who isn't the competition.

I'm going to take my wife to the Speak Easy Theatre in Oakland on Saturday. Neither of us have ever been but it seems cool. They show movies for 5 bucks, have a full food menue and serve liquor. The seating is couches and love seats and there are tables and stuff. I had heard of it a while back and forgot what it was called. Suri was kind enough to remind me about it in her blog. I'm hoping it is fun. They are showing Borat which we have wanted to see for some time but just never had the chance to do. I'm not sure what the rest of the weekend will bring but we will see.

So poker didn't go so well on Monday. I got my chips in with pocket jacks only to have pocket 9's suck out on me. That's how it goes though some times.

On a positive note, The Tragically Hip are coming to town in March. They will be playing at the Filmore on March 26th. Being one of my favourite bands, they always put on an amazing show. It's great to be able to see them at a small venue compared to having to see them while sitting in the nose bleeds of a 20000+ seat stadium in Canada.

Poker, cigars, wine, football, how can one complain.

My buckeye's got whooped last monday in the BCS Championship. It was a rough beatdown. Florida was certainly the better team and was well deserving of the shot they got. The only saving grace was winning money in poker at the cigar shop. At least something good came of the evening. The Eagles won their game while the Cowboys lost. That certainly made the weekend a bit better. The Eagles have since lost though so I guess I'll root for the sentimental favorite the Saints.

My wife and I spent this past weekend up in the Healdsburg/Santa Rosa area. They had the annual winter wineland event. All sorts of good food and good wine with lots of bargains to be had. Friends of ours who live up in the area let us stay at their place and took us around everywhere. Visiting wine country is always fun but it is more fun when you don't have to drive. We wen't to
Roshambo for a bit both days. It is always fun there. They also had 1 dollar wine for Wine Club Members. Everyone is always dressed up and crazy though so it's always good entertainment to go along with the wines. They are getting ready to move down the road so they had their new tour bus there for display. They are going to start randomly picking people up in the bus to take them wine tasting or to lunch and other things. The other wineries all kind of blend together after a few stops. We hit about 8 wineries each day. So many great wines and wineries and so little time. We will look forward to the Barrel Tasting Weekends in March.

The cigar shop is running poker tonight. Now that football is over they are going to show movies instead. Should be fun. They usually BBQ food and stuff before they play poker. The only thing better than BBQ is free BBQ. Hopefully my cards will be as good as the food.
