It is often tough to find friends when one's tastes in interests and friends lean towards the avantegard. It as times (like now) when there is a derth in inspiring friends and I'm inundated by minions of mundania, that I fall back on myself and take solace in my creativity. Sometimes this is the best way to bide one's time until one can find palatable social connections.
