I haven't drank much for a fair long time, so tonight I went out and had a few pints. I had totally forgotten the feeling of confidence and happiness a few beers can instill if you're not drinking for the total wrong reasons; drinking to have a bit of fun rather than to escape from all the non-fun I mean. It doesn't make the real world go away (I still came home and did dishes.) but it does serve to remind that every once in a while you can just get away for a few hours, leave personality, conformity, learned behaviors and pretty much everything behind if you want. I can't say I went that far, it was only four pints and some Shepard's Pie at a pub. I guess this also serves as my first actual factual blog entry ever, anywhere, though it's perfectly possible no one will ever read it. My life in total, while fulfilling, has left me feeling ghost-like these past couple of years, and even just this small written statement feels like a step in the right direction. And this site does interest me, even when this particular brand of non-conformity becomes normal there will always be another underground, and always people who change and adapt and just plain evolve to either shape themselves to the new underground, or shape the new underground to them. Usually the latter.
