Help me SGland!

So I'm going to New York for 6 months for work and I have never been there before. Where should I go? What should I do? Is there any SG events I can crash? xD

I already have plans for all the normal stuff (shows, museums...etc.) but I will want to have some fun with less well-behaved participants ;D
