i'm moving in with my girlfriend, as some of you may know, and the truck comes to my house thursday. a lot of my "good stuff" is at her place already - my books, records, nick-nacks, shoes, etc. - and i'm wading through the junk i could take or leave, desparately hoping my landlord will see fit to refund my entire deposit despite the fact the cat-piss stink will forever haunt the place.
i'm happy to be moving in with her. the idea first came up after we attended the christmas party for her job. in january. so, i'm used to the IDEA of living with her, but it used to seem so far away. we'll wait & see, i said, and we're here now, it's summer, and we're sharing an address.
i'm not going to lie to you, i'm nervous about this whole thing. so much could go wrong - and with an year lease inked - a few unhappy accidents could equal a hellish living arrangement in two shakes of a mongoose's tail. i don't want it to get like that.

from whiskey to wine i've traveled in my long journey from hopelessness to where i'm at now, which is to say somewhat rehabilitated. it's most present in the nights i falter & revert, only taking an inch to do a mile's damage. this time last year is like looking through black pantyhose at an unglamourous snowglobe, imagine if you will an old factory, with most of the window panels smashed out.
the clock is running out for me here at SG. i joined in march of 2003 and i've been all around the map physically and emotionally. it was always a place i could vent, it was always a place i could pretend. for me, it's outlived its usefulness and when i let it expire there won't be sadness.

i bought a new drumset last friday. i spent way too much $$, but i feel like i deserve the best, dig?
i'm back from tennessee and i'm in a good place. it was a good time, and all my pre-trip anxieties (like, are we going to hate each other?) have melted away. we're moving in together july 1st, and most if not all of that set of anxieties have disappeared as well.

going grocery shopping tonight instead of drinking. whee! maturity is setting in, or maybe it's fear of fullblown alcoholism?
i weekended in green bay, doing work for the company that shitcanned my ass in 2004. best thing that ever happened to me, by the way. i drank at 29 steps, my green bay bar. spent sunday being hungover, then somehow drunk again. life is vicious and boring, and i never get to spend quality time doing anything i want to.
i tried to order an inflatable kayak from the internet. i failed.

so here's an update on the life & times of joey.
i'm a real person again! i bought a car for $600 so now i get around town with the greatest of ease, a red 1990 toyota corolla sr5. the lights flip up like knight rider, it's pretty badass. i also got a cellphone. my credit is fucked, so i had to get a virgin prepaid phone. it feels like i'm getting raped, and i will switch over as soon as i get some deposit money to go with a real wireless plan.
i signed a lease on a new place, yes, i am moving in with my girlfriend. i have several friends on the same block so i'm looking forward to many a backyard barbecue. we have a backyard, so i'm fired up about using those tiki torches that have been sitting idle in my basement for oh, two years or so.
life is a good thing. i work my ass off, and might add another project to keep me even busier. i'm petitioning the neighborhood association board to appoint me as representative for my vacant district rep seat. thus begins my career in politicts. wish me luck on that frontier.
