Hey Friends. How are you? I'm doing ok. Mostly just getting by.
I lost my job in August and I was hoping that my self employment commission miniature painting would keep me afloat. Since then commission work has been harder and harder to find.
I'm not writing a downer blog so here is some stuff I have painted recently. Some of it has been for myself to keep my spirits up and to practice more advanced techniques. Most of it is commission work.
In other news. Kelsey got onto a roller derby team a few months ago called The Bad Reputations
Right before she go onto the team she made a video thanking all of the coaches who trained them in their Fresh Meat program. I was in charge of recording and engineering the theme song. It was nice to do something audio related after quite a while.
I haven't posted a blog in a very long time. I am really excited for this summer. I want to be outside more. I'm going to buy a bicycle and everything I swear! I am going to try busking with Kelsey on the beach which will be nice because my guitaring has been at an all time minimum. The commission painting thing is going great! Im making increasingly livable amounts of money and I'm just becoming a better painter in general. The only thing that kinda sucks is I have no time to paint any of my own stuff, but with more budgeting of time and staying true to schedules I could make it work. Unfortunately I am a boss at procrastination. I have a super sweet vacation planned in a few weeks with Kelsey and Zathril which will be fun. Might even plan another one a month after so I can spend more time at the lake. Maybe another road trip with Voodou, and Cruella? We shall discuss!!
Here everyone have some pics!
New computer!!
Winning contest!
Home made marshmallows
Ogres!
And a boat
It was my birthday last week and it was a blast!
I played videogames all day with Steve and then went to get sushi with Kelsey, Voodou, Aaron, Cherry, Matt, Choplogik, Phoenix, S_Eldorado, and Zathril. I got some wonderful cards and gifts!
Nothing really exciting is going on other than a large amount of armies I have been painting.
On Saturday I will be playing videogames for 24 hours straight. (food and potty breaks allowed of course) I need sponsors to help raise money to be donated to the BC Children's Hospital. You can sponsor me through the link or just suggest games I need to play.
I finished 3 commissions in the past 2 months after moving
Angels Sanguine
Death Guard
Dark Eldar
I constructed and painted a few Gundam kits
Together at last
Played some pinball
Ate some hotdogs
Also got a pet Betta Fish
I named him Otto
So I'm going on a huge ass road trip to AZ for Hell City Tattoo Festival. Hopefully.... I say that because almost everyone who was going to come has bailed on me. Its going to be quite difficult to do on my own because 27 hours of driving is quite boring when you are alone. Also I will have to pay 100% of fuel costs and 100% of hotel costs. Unless I can make friends in San Francisco. I have a free place to stay in AZ which is nice but it will still be an expensive trip to do alone. If I can get just one passenger both ways I can cut my fuel costs in half.
Here are a few commissions I have done recently
Legion of the Damned
Dwarf Bloodbowl team
I have been having games at home on the new table
This is what my own army looks like with a fancy carrying tray/display board
Killing his mans
Winning tournaments
I finished both the RX78-2 and Chars Zaku II
Next project will be the MSN06 Sinanju. Part of the new Unicorn Gundam series
Im going to try a new method of painting on him. First Airbrush him chrome then clear red to make a chromed red look. Should look real cool with all the smooth curves on the armour panels.
I also picked up a PS3 last weekend. If anyone wants to play Modern Warfare 2 or Little Big Planet online add me: drawesome11
Next on the list is Gran Turismo 5 and a Steering wheel.
Yesterday I sold my Black Templars army for $3000
I say jackpot but Ill miss it.
I have invested so much time into them but its time to move on. And buy another Black Templars army and paint them better!
During their time on eBay, I had inquires about commissions. I have picked up a commission to paint a Death Guard army for tons o cash. But the greatest offer of them all, A painting studio wants to hire me. They say Ill have a steady stream of commissions and decent pay. I'm down. I have been looking for a job that works around my recording studio job which I will sometimes get called into work the morning of. This way I can set my own hours, work out of home and make money doing what I enjoy. Not to mention the practice. Ill me a Golden Demon winner in no time.
Also, the Dark Eldar army I intend on putting on eBay should be finished soon. I just have to wait for my partner in crime to finish his share.
I also finished my RG RX-78 Gundam. I didnt paint him, I just felt like building instead of painting.
I do intend on painting the little teeny Amuro Ray though.
