After 25 years in L.A., I have lived in the Coachella Valley for almost 13 years. I love the bands that come to play here year round, but over the next few weeks it kicks in to overdrive, bands, bands, bands, new bands, old bands, local bands, bands from other parts of the world, you name it. Yes we are overrun by kids in v-necks, tank tops, and fedoras, driving cars with painted windows, like "Lets Get Weird, Coachella" and "Coachella or Bust." It is the price we pay to see bands like Future Islands at a realy cool local spot in between the two weekend festival shows! Yes I could see one of my favorite bands with 100k sweaty people at the main stage in close to 100 degree weather at like 430PM with my own desert sun beating down on me, or I can see them here at Pappy and Harriets next Friday, in the cool of the desert nigh in Pioneertown away from the masses in the compay of friends. Where I live, Every night of Coachella is a party, and every night there is a show. Its just how you enjoy it, and how you see the bands you REALLY want to see with the people you want to see them with, Everyone loves our valley for a few weekends a year, but I appreciate it all year round, everyone here would be surprised what they are missing throughout the rest of the year, a lot of the same artists will come here to hang out year round, and do small shows to a couple hundred people here and there. So when people ask me if I am going to Coachella, I always smile and say yes, because my Coachella is always year round.
