A lot of shit has happened since my last post...almost 4 months ago. Apparently, I a gay dude I was friends with was telling our common friends we were a fucking couple, the woman I was seeing became too worried about the age gad (8 years older)... bleh

I have planned a shoot next weekend, hopefully my first publication. Anxious as hell.

Thinking about doing an MA on Emergency/Disaster Management, just figuring a way to get the cash/scholarship and leave CR for a while.

I started running differently on Christmas after reading a book about the Raramuri in Northern Mexico, a tribe of indigenous people who went to Copper Canyon (not sure if that's the right name) running away from the Spanish during the Colonization and are natural born runners. Really, they could run 150miles/300km without stopping...on sandals.

After a while, right knee got way to fucked up for a while. But, as weird as my body is, went running today on a soccer field wearing a pair of Converse, hurt quite a bit for a few instants then nothing. Needed that...badly.

Strange as it is, I know I'm an obsessive guy. I fixate on getting 1 thing done, and after a while I've achieved that, I get bored and look for my next goal. Perhaps obsessive is a bit harsh, but if I didn't have this quality trait, I don't think my photos would be that interesting. David Bailey said that all photographers were sexual in any case. I just dunno if I should drop photo for a while cause it doesn't pay a lot here unless you do weddings...and I'm not the wedding type.

Oh, and an awesome thing happened. A band took me on a short trip for 2 concerts next door. My pay was to NOT pay the trip, gas or stay. Pretty sweet stuff.

It's been a long ass while since I've posted something over here. Still alive, heart still beating.

Fun news. I'm managing a model agency now. It's awesome and I get to work with some awesome models. The bad part is that I make little to no money because of the shit market here. Just means a LOT of more work, but there's the satisfaction of doing a good job.

Now, I've found something unsettling. I can't mess with my girls, and the non-models get insecure and shoot me down because of that insecurity. Which...is...sad. Now, I have a policy of staying off the girls I work with and I've found all the holes in my policy so far. I don't shoot any of the girls I date/sleep with (only naked photos of them though...I have a nice catalog of those as mementos that I keep hidden).

First hole in theory: the time I had a one night stand with a girl I ended up working with a month later.

Second hole in theory: the time I tried to have a one night stand before we signed a girl. Which led to some messing around, the girl climaxing thanks to my hand. Then, 2 days later, she fucked one of my friends with my condoms that I gave him cause I saw it coming. Drank my ass off that night and went running the next day to detox.

On another note, there's a lady I took photos of for her boyfriend (she's close to her 40s and has 3 kids). They're nudes, boudoir-styled. In any case, the photos are amazing, but she doesn't want to pay me the remaning fraction of the contract. Since she's MIA now, it really upsets me...first of all for the lack of respect for me as a person (not even as a photographer) and because I NEED the money. If she doesn't contact me in the next 8 days, I'll go public with the nude photos of her to blogs and amateur pornsites...wit her full name, address, email and phone number. Not really thrilled by having to execute the threat if it comes to that, it just pisses me off that I have to come to this to have the contract fulfilled. This or let it be and let client know that if she doesn't pay, I won't hold privacy. What do you think?

Also, yesterday I was almost struck by lightning. It fell what I believe was 30ft away from me to my right. All I remember was seeing the thing strike just to my right and sparks flying from the post between the lightning and me. Ran under some garage (it was a dry thunderstorm) and started laughing really hard...because it missed.

Hey hey

It's been a while since my last post. Lots have happened. I've decided to start a production house with a friend here in my country with the help of a few others, but sometimes it feels like we bear the biggest part of the operation. I have a part-time job interpreting over the phone with a company...which leads me to ask, how the fuck does a Mexican live in the US for 12 years+ and still can't speak English. I'll leave my full opinion on that for another time.

I also have some other interesting news in a few days (I'm about to go for the meeting to settle that but it's looking good). Oh, and my internship director died... so, I don't know what's going to happen and if my International Relations degree is dead until I can join an MA programme here until I can leave the country.

Been busy. I'm supposed to be accepted in a regional UN branch for an internship working on Human Trafficking, but they haven't given me what to do yet... So, it's confusing. On the other hand, I got to shot the photo above. Also, I have an interview for an interpreting job on Wed.

So, I realized that it's been 20+ days since my last post. Things have been hectic, got an internship (that'll be finalized this coming week) with an international organization and I'll be working on the human trafficking branch. This, my dears, means that I've been reading studies, documents and manuals about the legal systems of the countries in the region to understand what they need to change to be effective against this.

Other than that, I got to shoot a band for their promo work. Super psyched. The first part (studio) is done, now we're trying to go to a location to shoot there. I'll share the photos when I can. Same thing with a french girl who came here to Costa Rica and wanted to shoot some nudes in nature.

A few things:



There's this one band, Henna, from Costa Rica. Awesome music. They played an acoustic concert at one of my favourite cafés in Costa Rica (since I'm a coffee whore this means a BIG mug of tasty coffee for a reasonable price). Any who, a third or so of this footage is mine.

This is my cousin. He wanted a photo for a University project (movie poster). The theme was the middle east, so... here is the result. The spoiler is there to also hide some historical stuff explaining the photo... sort of.

On another note, I went by my high school. They moved to a different location while I was away and it was the first time in the new installations. My Spanish teacher was there and the sub-director, they were pleased to see me doing well despite of the un-fun things I've gone through. Puts a smile on my face because I take a step back and think about how much I could have done things wrong.

I also want to thank you all who have written in my past blogs. I wish I could have you all in one place and cook a big bbq or something as a thank you because that's one of the few things I can do for people... feed them yummy food Also, there might be a hug in that plan

I wanted to go to the beach to enjoy taking photos of the big 5yr tide... but shit broke down cause I needed my mom's car to take all my equipment (wanted to squeeze in a shot of a dude I know with his board who is jsut starting his modeling career). My friends wanted to step-up to the challenge (2 of the guys on the couch above), but they were in a concert last night because they let the visiting band use Jaime's the drums.They didn't get home until 4am. So, this is me, bored with 3 hours of sleep.

Will go workout my frustrations.

Ps. Started using OkCupid just for kicks because it's mostly used by foreigners. Since I attract only foreigners, why shouldn't I? Been talking to a 30 yr old American guide at an adventure place (hikes, rafting, horseback, etc). Outdoorsy, older, perfect. Now, let's see if she'll like to go out for a coffee with a 6'4, 215lb, longhaired athletic Costa Rican with 2 degrees, 3 languages, broke and unemployed who (hopefully since I've haven't had any complaints so far, just happy women) sexs well and whose friends will give their word for his cooking skills.

A few thoughts

1) Apparently, none of my recommendations for work can be taken seriously since they're not from Costa Rica. Not even for simple hotel receptionist spot. Experience beats knowledge these days, so I have 2 BA's and speak 4 languages only for kicks.

2) I still seem to attract more foreigners than I do locals. Girls here like to tease, talk to you, flirt with you, but they pull the plug eventually. A friend of mine said they're like ovens: they're only good at getting you hot, but that's it.

3) There's nothing like music to make a shitty day better (photo above). At least, my camera gets me out of paying for concerts.

4) I need a friends with benefits/fuck buddy/booty call...however you wanna call it. Bleh

5) Might go to the beach tomorrow to photograph surfers because there's an unusual 5 yr high tide.
