Well the past week has been pretty eventful I suppose. Last week was spent working for the most part. Trying to catch up on my bills a little bit to get through the rest of the semester.

I went down to Brooklyn on the weekend to hang out with my brother and his family. I was fortunate to make it out of there without getting sick, everyone had caught some kind of a sinus infection from my nephew so I was a little worried that I'd get it as well. My brother and I ended up skipping the Punk Olympics at CBGB's on account of him being sick, we drove by a few times and checked out everyone all dressed up in the best punk garb though. After that we just ended up bar hopping for a few hours until we crossed the bridge back into Brooklyn and hit a few more bars there. It was fun but the beer was incredibly expensive.

The strangest thing happened while I was down there. I was sitting outside my brothers apartment smoking a cigarette and one of my professors walks right by me. So I just said "Hey, professor" and it turns out that it was definitely him. Apparently his girlfriend lives in the same neighborhood as my brother and he was down there visiting her. The odds of that happening are staggering.

Overall it was a great time, but now I'm stuck back here planning a class discussion on John Locke and constitutional law, lucky me. Not sure how much time I'll have to keep up with the boards and stuff this week, but I'll try to save a little time for SG.

hey there - sounds like you had a nice trip. cool beans. and congrats on avoiding illness. clearly, this means you are *the shit* wink

seeing profs in unexpected places ... it still weirds me out. i used to, back at my old school, see one professor at the movies quite a bit. and for some reason, i seem to see professors here at chicago at the grocery store. so far: two spottings. i mean, that's not a LOT ... but ya know, not bad for living in an urban area....

anyway, hope ya have a good week. have fun w/john locke.

i have to say - as dorky & bizarre as this must sound - i think it is SO COOL that your parents used to run a used bookstore. i think that would be a pretty cool job - that or maybe having my own comic book store. smile

i actually had a prof (who was basically throwing a bunch of stuff out) give me like a TON of books .. they're just scattered all over my bookshelves now. i'm sure i'll never read them all. but once in a while, it's a bonus - for one of my classes, one of the required books is one i pilfered from my prof. so that's handy.

i have to totally agree w/you that old pulp novels have the best art ... if i were to have a cool office, i'd love to have like pulp art reproductions on my wall. (how sick is that? - i want to decorate an *office*?)
i always get a kick out of those date books & address books that have all the pulp art in them ...

Once I saw my history teacher at a club. She was dressed pretty goth. The whole experiance was just awkward.
It's always nice to take a trip. Even if the party your visiting is ill. Hope your family gets better.
