For anyone who is a Dragon Age: Origins fan, I'm sure you are well aware of the midnight release of Awakening Monday late night. Or maybe none of the DA: O fans knew about the release since no one showed up!! My dear sweet boyfriend and I faithfully showed up around ten to finalize our payment at Game Stop and be first in line for my beloved expansion. After all, we were first in line for his Call of Duty: MW2, so I deserve a "first" too.
As we sat in the car listening to some tunes and smoking some cancer, we watched several people go into the store, mostly guys probably in their twenties. Time comes for everyone to start throwing elbows and getting in line, so we head in to join the mini-mosh and instead... *crickets chirp*. Dang, crappy turn out, less than ten people there. As the clock strikes midnight and everyone starts receiving their games and guides, we come to the brilliant realization that no one is there for DA: O. They're all waiting for God of War. How did we know this? There wasn't even a single copy of our game ready and out on the counter, the employee (who is a douche, in case you were wondering) had to unlock the cabinet and pull out our game.
Pathetic. Now, I know a lot of Dragon fans play on PC, as it is originally a PC game. But come on now! There has to be someone else playing it on xbox that loves this game enough to stay out until midnight to pick it up. I know expansions aren't all that incredible usually, but come on now, someone has got to wanna continue their story after the archdemon is slain! I've never felt so disappointed in gamers, ever. Other than when an entire team of COD: MW2 Team Deathmatch is n00b t00bing and I have to hear my boyfriend screaming at the TV about it. (That truly is depressing, too).
I would love to put a ton of spoilers in here so anyone who wants to play the game (but is procrastinating on buying it) gets totally pissed off at me ruining it for them. But the truth is, I haven't even played it yet because by the time we got home from the midnight release I was dead tired. Then Tuesdays I have class and work all damn day. And by the time I got home, my boyfriend was already playing COD, which if anyone has a serious COD addict in the household, you do not get between an addict and their xbox.
So basically all this boils down to: People are no fun and It's the principle of the thing, not the reality.
