So I finally broke down and joined the cult of iPod. I stopped by my brand new (yesterday was it's first day being open) and saw it. The device that Apple created solely for the purpose of bringing me over to the dark side........
My first mp3 player was the 1st gen Dell DJ. Thick and heavy, made of aluminum and with a blue backlit led display it rocked out with 24 hour battery life and 20G of storage and all for the bargain price of $200, bargain since iPod's of the day were $300+. Eventually though it can time to replace the DJ. After 3 good years of faultless service, minus the occasional soft reset, I sold it and replaced it with a 1st gen Creative Zen V series. For $129 I got 2G or storage, black case, full color display with changable backgrounds. Downside of course is that I am lucky to get 8 hours of play out of it before the battery dies......
Which brings us to today. With my new job working 13hour shifts, the Zen just couldn't handle the strain. So off I went on my way home from work to check out the offerings and there it was. Looking all sleek and shiny. Black and silver and thin. It was love at first sight. Then I held it in my hands and played with the controls, amazing. I asked the price and after being shocked out of my skin, sighed and had it rung up. And here it is ladies and gentlemen, the newest member of my techno family (along with my Nintendo DS, Playstation 2, PC, etc etc)
I even ponied up the extra $$ and got the 16G version.
