Epic fucking weekend. Dear FSM!
Lost my keys, went to calgary, got three hours of sleep, got stuff for the apartment, put apartment together, gardened, got groceries, did laundry, slept, fixed a laptop, napped, moved furniture, hung out, slept, put the slow-cooker on this morning.

I don't know if it was the fact I was in a postcommute-pretea stupor, but when the new landlord called to let me know that the place is mine if I want it he sounded... shocked, maybe? He told me I got a glowing reference from my employer and my credit check came back showing I have excellent credit. It seemed as if he was expecting these ducks not to be in a row. Oh well.
One less thing for me to worry about. Now I just need to worry about the fact that my life is going to change drastically, once again, over the next month.

Well, I went to see the place this evening. It's smallish, and it's not cheap for what it is, but I can definitely see some good times there. I let them know as I was still there that I was interested in the place, gave them my info for a background check and all that fun stuff.
We'll see how it goes, I can see myself living there for a good year or two. It'd force me into Dude-dom which I think is kind of important right now. No, not that dude, The Dude. The Dude abides. I'd need to shed a lot of excess crap which is really a good thing anyways.
Most importantly, I think if I were to meet someone and bring them back there they wouldn't run away screaming.

I have an apartment viewing tomorrow after work. I'm rather looking forward to it. It seems as if it should be some important step forward. I'm rather fond of the idea of having a place of my own, finally.

I'm going to Inuvik for work. Flying up Sunday and GTFO on Monday. Should be enough time to fix the problems, scout the site for future upgrades, hit up the shops and buy some fleece for my mother that's more expensive by weight than coke (well... maybe not, but fracking close).
This shall be a fun one boys and girls. Expect bitching.

Things looking up? Perhaps. I did get fucked by insurance, and fucked by my own stupidity wrt the car break-in, but I'm feeling better.
Perhaps I can turn the violation into a lesson that keeps me from getting too attached to my stuff.
Outside of that, I have a ticket that says Iron Fucking Maiden on it that I didn't have to part with a testicle to acquire (though I'd put the offer on the table) and I'm down 30lbs on the year. Plenty to feel good about.
I've got a few other things to get in order but with any luck 2008 is done kicking me in the junk.
