Some thoughtless fuckers dropped a parade downtown and I just wasted 30 min stuck in traffic going 10 blocks trying to get to one of my clients...

1 12 hour day down... probably 2 or 3 more to go.
I love it when clients set insane deadlines, and then existing hardware tries to fail on me. Best case scenario, I'm not working Sunday in order to get these servers online for Monday morning.
One of the managers had mentioned "pulling a rabbit out of our hat" on this one. I told my boss to inform him that the rabbit is not coming out of a hat this time, and he may need to give it a bath.

The problem is, I keep going back to it. I can't leave.

So this morning I had a "monitored backup" to perform. In the telephone room in the parkade under the Edmonton Center mall, I spent the early hours of the morning.
The voicemail system for the hotel there is a bit of a relic. There's only a half dozen of these accross Canada left, and we have the contract for this one. Every other month I get to back the damn thing up in preperation for when it decides to die.
This morning I was particularilly sleepy, and I deffinately spent the entire backup sleeping in the chair with my feet up on a spool of 25 pair cable.
And got paid for it.
The best part is my boss knows I'm going to bitch and moan all day tomorrow about it. Because that's part of the deal. I do it if I can be an ass the next day. It's a good deal.
Edit: Almost forgot. Afterwards, I went to wash GIa, then went over to Carla's. Where I promptly fell alseep in her lap. It was awesome.
ps. I have just now hung up my Rin and Lavonne calendar. I rule.

I've been looking at that entry for at least a week thinking, I really should update that. But there's not much to say.
I'm glad I have my Carla back. Work has been a touch quiet this week. I need to start looking a couple months ahead and plan my summer. I'm finally making some progress at the other work.
It's mothers day this weekend, and I haven't really figured anything out. I probably should do something.
Not a lot is going on right now, I've come to the conclusion I can't really afford to move our right now, so I'm going to need to fix that soon. I was sad when I fully accepted that, but at the same time, better to learn it now than say... once a lease is signed. Going to try to have that all worked out by the end of the summer.

Update 2: I have been surrounded. There is no escape. I did realise that I haven't eaten today. So I've now got chips and salsa, and sun dried tomato turkey breast... She's been gone less than 24 hours.. how do I make it till sunday?
