Thanks to everyone who comment on my contributions to Manko's Passion Play set.
It was great working with her and the wonderful Albertine I'm really proud of what we achieved, especially as we only had a week to do it all in! eeek Thank Hell for amphetamines...

Well inspired by watching the extras on my new King Kong DVD I thought y'all might appreciate a behind the scenes peek at the original ideas sketch I produced when we first started discussing the concept.

As you can see the basic idea didn't change too radically from start to finish except for:
Manko's styling (that's her job not mine).
The "crown of thorns sprouting roses in the hair" idea (too fiddly considering the deadline)
And the flowery blob "dream bubble" which transmuted into an evil incubus-bunny after seeing Fuseli's Nightmare at the Tate (OK, maybe the Incubunny is a somewhat obscure tribute to Fuseli but it made sense to us).

Well last week I decided to stay home and get on with some new work while Manko went skipping off through the woods to Granny’s house.
I had a vertitable heap of tantalising projects just ripe for me to get stuck into, writing, drawing, painting and a couple of extra special multi-media secret ones, oooohhh.
But no sooner is my little witch out of the door & I’m struck down with an infuriating virus that turns my brains to mush & has me bedbound for the next 7 days! AAARGH!!! how bloody infuriating, there was me CHO-BERI inspired yet barely able to hold a frikkkin’ pencil.
Apparently I even accidentally gave up smoking while I was out of it, wtf? whatever
So anyway, this Monday suddenly I feel just about human again, all of a sudden I can paint, draw, write, type, talk on the phone and I want to do it all, all of it right now and at once, I’m so excited I don’t know where to start, it’s 4.30 on Tuesday morning as I type this and I’m buzzing off my head with inspiration, as if that’s not enough my Manko’s coming home to me on Thursday my anticipppppation circuits are supercharged, blooming heck! I feel like (as FOETUS would say) I’m gonna explode, I’m gonna explode, I’m gonna explode explode explode explode EXPLOOOOOOODE!!!!!

Thanks for all your birthday wishes, I had a fabulous time.
I was woken up with trifle in bed, that was creamy, custardy and most unexpected.
Next I was showered with gifts including a cut-throat razor and tickets for the sensory deprivation tanks over by London Bridge.
Later on we got pissed and went out to a hot new club called “All you can eat” hosted by Warboy (our producer on the Manko radio slots).

London punks Gobsausage invited me to come and DJ the following Sunday at their “Funny Farm” party.
I spun my fave CD’s, gave out stacks of PIMP mags and sketched Gene Serene and Gobsausage during their performances.
I’m still nursing a black eye after receiving a beer bottle to it during the aforementioned Gobsausage gig.
Should have known better than to stand in front of the stage at one of their shindigs.
Luckily for me it was at least an empty bottle, one of the stripper had already poured out the lager over herself before the gimpmasked lead singer snatched it from her and hurled it audience-wise to meet my face.
Can’t blame him though, he’s a lovely bloke the rest of the time but when he puts that mask on…
They now want me to DJ regularily at their parties, I do so enjoy inflicting my love of Foetus, Moi Dix Mois, Back Drop Bomb, Sigue Sigue Sputnik etc.. onto a captive audience. Next Party 19th March at the Spread Eagle on Kingsland Rd. FREE ENTRY.

Artwise, I’ve recently completed a set of 4 skull & x-bones paintings. I love them they are square with lots of layers of paint and varnish.
My pal MR_DELUXE has been busy too of late producing a stunning series of punk-rock screen prints that take up where seditionnaries left off.
Several of the newest designs on his YESFUTURE(Fist Fuck Deluxe) label feature a transsexual Manko character and will soon be gracing everything from t-shirts and hankies to canvases and bedsheets.
Expect to see lots of gratuitous nudity, giant cocks, obscure King Kong/SHAVEKONG references, beheaded queen stamps, the post office tower, FFD lyrics and more…

What with the “Manko roadkill” t-shirt available now at ZBQ and 3 at least coming from YESFUTURE/Fist Fuck Deluxe 2006 is already shaping up as year of the Manko t-shirt.
(Weird coincidence, in the ZBQ design Manko wears a jacket from the first ever Fist Fuck Deluxe collection)
watch this space for further information.

Well, it's been quite a while since I did a cover illustration but my latest effort was published just yesterday.

Yes, after somewhat of a delay PIMP vol. 5 is finally out.
Manko fans may recognise her as my model (not to mention muse) for the above illo (she also appears on the inside cover posing for fashion house Charles of London).
The mag also features an article on yours truly and an illustrated interview I did with the gorgeous Noblesse Oblige.
contact the mag for stockists, it's free and out now!

This last month has been a bit busy for me to squander time at the computer, but it was most productive and amusing to say the least.

I've finally got my paintings back from the exhibition, minus the one I sold smile Ha Ha Ha. (thank you mysterious buyer from New York I can now afford my next ticket to Tokyo)

So without further ado ,& in response popular demand, I proudly present a pic of the collaborative work I did with Junko Mizuno while she was here in London.

As you can see it's a double portarit of my witch-doll mommet Yumeko s3-x. Yes it's a dream come true for me, anyone having trouble materialising their dreams into waking reality I strongly reccomend you try making a little mommet of your own for wishing into. Remember kids voodoo isn't just about cursing folks that rile you wink .

Happy New Year xxx.
edited coz I got a fucking apostrophe in the wrong place, and I HATE that! you might not mind that but "pedantic" was the fist long word that I ever learned.

This weekend I was treated to an early x-mas present, a trip to see a talk by sir David Attenborough!.love
It was fabulous, we had front row seats so I was able to make some sketches of my childhood hero while he talked.
I was captivated for the whole time, as he spoke he gesticulated extravagantly with his hands, his eyes sparkled, I'm used to seeing him deliver information in a subdued tone so as not to spook the subjects of his films but given an audience he practically danced.
The theme of the presentation was "Life in the undergrowth" which is the title of his new TV series and book and the most extensive documentary ever made about insects, arachnids and other such "mini-beasts" I've been waiting years for someone to tackle the subject but apparently the technology just didn't exist before to film the lil' bugs without frying them under studio lights.
The show airs on BBC1 tomorrow night smile but our TV is dead frown ,oh well I've already seen the highlights and I'll surely catch a re-run or see it on video soon.
Too many of my heroes died before I got to see them in the flesh (Kirby, Dali, Burroughs, LaVey etc...) so I'm thrilled to have seen sir David up close, thanks to my kitten miao!! for the prezzie now all I have to do to repay her is get her an audience with David LaChapelle or Pierre et Gilles or........

I was just tagged by zbq23 to come up with twenty interesting things about myself, you’ll probably think I’m mad or making it up if you can be bothered to read them but, to paraphrase Salvador Dali, “the only thing different between mrATOMIC and a crazy person is that mrATOMIC is not crrrrrrazyyy”….

1. I once went “backstage” at the zoo, helped feed lions, petted a cheetah, tickled a black panther, and played with a pair of boisterous baby snow leopards.

2. I was living in Kobe, Japan, when the massive “Hanshindaishinsai” earthquake hit in 1995. Thankfully my house wasn’t very badly damaged but for the rest of the day I watched in awe as a huge mushroom cloud of smoke, generated by downtown Kobe burning, dominated the horizon.

3. I can draw without looking at the paper; this is especially handy while sketching in the dark at clubs and gigs.

4. I got together with my current girlfriend after she stalked me on the internet. Needless to say my wife wasn’t much impressed but you can’t fight true love and an artist needs a muse.

5. As a child I was once visited at my bedside by a freakish creature with a domed head, wrinkly blue leathery skin, four eyes, no nose or ears but a huge mouth that split its head like a machete cut in a melon when it smiled at me!, scared me half to death it did.

6. Mr Atomic is my real name.

7. I decided to concentrate full time on painting from life after being approached in curiously vivid dream by the ghosts of Dali, Picasso and Miro. Before that I was an aspiring comic book artist self publishing comix such as Wongo Batonaga, Wongoboy and Technotribe.

8. I sometimes use magick to influence the weather.

9. As part of the demonic electronic punkrock band Fist Fuck Deluxe I once performed live on a Tokyo porno TV show called “Club H the paradise”, we totally freaked out the show hosts and attendant drag queens.

10. I once caused a CD (Godzilla volume, Temple records, TOPY073CD) to receive a parental advisory because the comic strip I drew in the CD booklet (Godzilla vs. Wongoboy) was too erotic. The album was later withdrawn because Toho productions found out about it…

11. I can’t ever remember what to call my mobile telephone, I’m always saying things like “have you seen my radio, I mean my clock, no watch, no waitaminnit…” whilst Manko collapses next to me in hysterical fits of giggles.

12. I honestly believe that the psychedelic experience is what separates humans from the rest of the animal kingdom and is a necessary part of our personal evolution towards becoming a fully rounded human organism. Before you’ve experienced it you are less than “real” and once you’ve attained that level of “realism” you have changed forever for the better.

13. I saw the legendary Divine perform twice, at London’s Hippodrome nightclub, before he died; once accompanied onstage by a baby elephant. It was fan-fucking-tastic! and a big affirming experience for an impressionable young transvestite.

14. I once defended Ray Mayhew (Sigue Sigue Sputnik drummer) in court after the notorious “Horror of Sputnik maniac” bottle throwing incident. He got off on the grounds of my testimony. I got 20 quid for my troubles.

15. I paint vertical stripes on my shirts to remind me that’s what I’d have been wearing had I lived in Nazi Germany, freedom is important and it’s when we start taking it for granted that “they”, by admittedly more subtle degrees these days, start taking it away from us.

16. Johnny Thunders once came around our flat to hang out after a gig; he asked for 14 sugars in his coffee and then demanded I taste it to make sure it wasn’t tea. Like with that much sugar in the bloody thing you could taste what it was at all. Dunno what he was doing in the bog but our toilet water turned black that night.

17. I’ve been married twice and my second wife’s great uncle was a kamikaze pilot. Banzai!

18. I first learned about transsexualism when I was 3 years old as a result of my Grandma asking me exactly why it was that I didn’t like my cuddly toy “Peter Panda”. I told her I’d wanted a girl panda so it could have babies and she said “well I’ll give it a sex change and you can call her Polly”. She made the toy a dress to wear and we were inseparable from that point on until I chewed and cuddled the unfortunate thing into a barely unrecognisable mess. I was still a bit unhappy that I had to be a boy but that started to wear off after I got properly laid.

19. My first experience of art criticism was when I moved into a new school at age 12 and decorated my history exercise books with detailed illustration of the grim reaper, leering skull with bloody vampire fangs and Nazi armband. I was pulled out of registration on morning by the school’s assistant headmaster Mr Grainger; he called my doodle “the worst kind of pornographic filth that one might find in the seediest backstreets of Soho”. I didn't really get it but it was then that I realised there was a sort of power in playing with symbols... that helped me relate to punk. It made me want to go to Soho. I think that incident a when grown man was scared to look me in the eye because of a silly doodle with felt tip pens that set me on a path of a rebel.

20. Last week I did a painting collaboration with manga-ka Junko Mizuno. It will be on display in exhibition in London (Opening with free booze Thursday Dec 8th 18.00, “On The Seventh Day" gallery & boutique, 37a Neal St, London WC2. You’re welcome to attend and suck up to Ms Manko, haha).

Over a month since my last update so I though I'd better get something down...
Far from being boring to be back in the UK I've been rushed off my feet for the last couple of weeks, accompanying Manko to fabulous events, working on new paintings for my up-coming exhibition and for the last few days chaperoning the lovely miss Mizuno around London.
I even managed to persuade my manga-ka pal to collaborate with me on a painting that symbolises my doll Yumeko's dream of becoming a Hell Baby, I'm really excited about this as it's been in the back of my mind for several years now and has finally reached fruition.
Well I'm bushed now so it's off to my pit of a bed for some long overdue slumbers...

I love Tokyo!, as usual we hit the ground running.

Crystal high we legged it over to Harajuku where we met upwith Junko Mizuno outside Hysteric Glamour, she was chatting with Pushead on the street. Later I hadthe pleasure of meeting
Rockin`JellyBean

I love Tokyo! I love the warm humid air filled with the chirruping, buzzing, ringing song of the various exotic bugs, I love browsing through mags at the bookshop and finding pix of myself and my pals out clubbing or in the street in London, I love buying beer or pulin or died squid snacks at the 24 hour combini, I love that "free size" at MilkBoy is my size, I love that the old geezers at Harajuku have been carrying around pix of Manko every week for the last 16 months waiting for her to return, I love that stupid squirty thing that creeps out from underthe toilet seat and hoses down your anus, I love the dolls, the infectious jingles, the clean streets, the sour sweets, I love it when the dreaming gets outside of my head.
