i just got back from camping. we went to lake amador. it was over 100 degrees every day. we were a little miserable during the day to say the least. the lake water was very warm, so it was pretty nice to swim. i got burnt pretty bad on my neck after the first day and hung in the shadows for most of the rest of the trip. i fished a bit, but didn't really catch anything. how can you not really catch anything you ask? well, while fishing, my dad and i noticed a fish acting pretty weird swimming on it's side, then going back down, then resurfacing, swimming on it's side, repeat. so he decides that we should get in the boat and try to net it. it looked like it was about to die anyway because it was a trout and the water was like 80 degrees and they can't survive in those temps. (it was a planter lake, trout aren't native there.) so i'm driving the boat using the trolling motor and he's hangin over the front with a net, cussing directions out at me. after a few minutes of chasing the fish around, he said fuck it, let's go back to shore. so i turned the boat to head back to where we were beaching it and the fish resurfaced right in front of us and swam directly into the net. my father-in-law cooked and ate it that night. it was a 3 lb trout. i tried a piece and it tasted how i remember trout tasting. i'm not much of a fish eater. i just enjoy going out into nature. if i catch anything, which is rare, i throw it back. if it's too injured, i'll bring it to work and give it to a lady i know who likes fish. that was definately the strangest catch i've ever had though. it was kind of sporting too cuz that fish gave us a run for our money.
