hmm... the allure of only paying half, of a yearly subscription, lured me back. smile

living back in abilene.

with mom and step-dad, plus my uncle joe's two little girls. just over two and just over one. just over one is adorable. just over two is an ass.

no where to ride here. so i ride along the access road along the interstate highway. too many hills. frown

zune pass is audio bliss.

i sing the chorus to myself because the only thing i have ever consistently done is let myself down.

woke up this morning feeling super jazzed about going, for a ride, before work. front tire was flat. hadn't even ridden, after fixing the whole affair with the rear tire/tube. bought another new tube today. ...

1474 miles worth of wear, on the rear tire.

pollination unto himself!

four rides, five flats. it has been a real lame week for myself and my bicycle. after the third i thought it might not just be me running stuff over. first was on the way to work sunday but i (luckily) made it to the store before it went out. my brother brought my pump up and i made it home. patched it. the next was monday, on my river legacy ride, i noticed it getting softer so i hurried home. patched it. next was riding around town, i was looking for/turning in applications and heard my tire get punctured and all the air rushing out. had to carry the bike a mile to the mall and a nice kid at dick's sporting goods let me fix it, on his table. rode off to bicycles inc. after that and had them put in a new tube, for me. rode to gen. x comics, by the time i made it there the new tube was going down. walked the bike home, about four miles. finally decided to run the rear tire through some water, to see where all the leaks were coming from. no less than five punctures, in the tire itself but only one leak, in the tube. cleaned out the punctures, in the tire, and patched up the tube. rode thirty-five today, tire/tube felt great but by the time i made it back home and sat down, for a while, it had gone flat again... pretty sure i cleaned out all the punctures, don't feel like messing with it again, to see if there is a new one, in the tube or the patch just came undone. think i should just get a new tire and tube. so frustrating. riding is supposed to help melt away all the things that bother me throughout my day not add to them.

still looking, for a new job, netflix interview didn't pan out. sounded like they needed someone that is used to being more in charge than i am. at the moment i don't really care what it is, i'm just wanting something that will give me fourty hours a week and pay me close to the same.

oh, and i killed my cellphone, on today's ride. had it in my pack, underneath my saddle. i guess that's not waterproof because all the water that was thrown up, from my rear tire, soaked it. it was a little cheap phone, but still, have to get a new one now.

got into a race last saturday, on the river legacy trail. i believe that's my first flat out race with anyone.

so, i'm riding at about 18 m.p.h., in at around 35 miles, and come up on two hipster kids, on their single speeds with their cutoff tight jeans and whatnot. one was tall/mexican and the other was average/white. well, the a/w kid (and by kid i mean early twenties.) was swerving into the on-coming lane, playing around. i give them an, "on your left," and pass them by. shortly after i come up on two slow moving people (14 m.p.h.), in the middle of a long left, so i slow down to wait, for a safe pass (some portions, of the trail, are heavily wooded, on the sides.) as i am waiting i hear, "on your left," and it's the t/m kid passing us. i thought it was a bit dangerous pass. after reaching a clearing i sped up and to pass the slow movers and t/m, moving about twenty. and then, curiously, i hear, "on your left." i say "curiously" because i almost never get passed, on this trail (three times, at most, in three months. and each time i was moving more towards 16 m.p.h.) it was t/m! i thought, "well, okay," moved up a gear, and began to dig in. after he had moved right, i pulled left and pushed up passing him with another, "on your left," at 23 m.p.h. or so. we're both moving and passing other people, one purple shirted, cut off jeans hipster, on his single speed with nothing but a white headband to shield his head and me, in my bicycles inc. jersey and bibs, with my twenty-four gear specialized secteur and halo sweatband and specialized helmet (always wear your helmet!) he comes up, on me, one more time and i laughed saying, "i like you," as well as i could, while breathing that heavily and a parched mouth. so, one more time to really push like i hadn't before and with help, of a slight back wind, i forced myself to 27 m.p.h. and pulled back ahead.
i was a little worried. after passing him, i pulled back to the right a little sharply with us going into a slight turn. a slight glance back and i didn't see him anymore. i thought maybe i had run him off, of the trail, but hadn't heard anything. we were only a half-mile from the turn around so i waited, on him and a/w.
i told him i hoped i didn't run him off, of the trail, and he said he had just gotten winded. i commended and thanked him, for giving me such a run and we talked, for a bit. i wished them a good ride and was on my way.
riding away i realized that was a really good chance to possibly make a new friend, as i don't have many in d.f.w. and am not very good at meeting new people. i've always wanted someone to ride with but after that i think it'd just become some big competition and the joy, of the ride, would just turn into another bit of stress. but it certainly was fun, that once.

customer looking on the phone, for a mountain biking videos, and we were talking about bikes and shops. i take a look.
"well, i seem to have several snowboarding videos, but nothing else. cause you know how much snowboarding we do down here, in texas, that's real helpful."
"yeah, maybe if someone stuck some wheels on them or something. maybe we could get some use out of them."
"you know they did, actually (referring more to the surf/longboard like skateboards) i call them 'skateboards.'"
"haha, oh now why didn't i think of that?"

very next customer.
"do you guys have any anything to drink?"
"um... no... well, we do have some japanese sodas."
"what are those?"
"sodas, from japan."
her boyfriend thought that was real funny.

though disappointed, it's always really nice to get away, from a source, of stress.

i'd be nice, if evolution had seen fit, to install a switch that would make it so that you could just switch off and go to sleep. regardless of being tired or not.

did a bit of weight training today. i'm so not cut out, for that. i had read something about, if you do a lot of riding, your body will anticipate having to cool itself and start doing it sooner. that is true. my body completely kicked into a level of cooling that would prevent fusion. there were two kids, on the weight machine, so i sat down at the stationary bike spinning, for five minutes, in hill climb mode (since i suck at hills.) a deluge of sweat poured off, of me. regardless of barely working, the a.c. and fans. i sat calmly at the weight machines and slowly went through the sets and reps and just continued to sweat. it's kind of annoying. but it's neat to see just how much sweat my body puts out while i'm riding, without it all being evaporated by the wind/sun/heat. wanting to start doubling up, on my distance. i miss sixty mile rides but i don't think i want to do the river legacy ride three times. fourty will do, i'll just have to pace myself better.

i've put in a couple applications. i'd like to think i'm capable of putting in one a day but i know i'm not. it's just such a tedious task. but i need a second job, if not a new one altogether, with my lease coming up.

really should've ridden to abilene with these four days off. wish i had the money, for it.

it's a good thing Rory_B_Bellow let me in sgdfw, this free pass only last for three months. (there's a wait period, of three months of membership, to get in the group.) thanks!

wrong, starcraft 2! "the wait" isn't over until final fantasy VII is remade to current specs.

i've been so bored that i'm going through dragon ball z. i tried watching it on cartoon network, so long ago, but i felt it dragged on, for too long. i was correct. but i don't care. i'm bored.

got the idea, to ride to abilene, back in my head. i have two days off this weekend and thought, if i have sunday and monday off, i would like to give it a chance. but i know i won't have enough money to get what i'd need. at least one tube, patch kit, portable pump, accelerade, clif bars and shot bloks and the money, for food/water, along the way.

last.fm is playing almost nothing but comedians.

only three days left to finish out my ten day work week. applied, for a part-time job, earlier. the lease is coming up and i'll finally be getting back into a solo apartment. you know what that means, i can finally walk around naked, again. nothing quite like that freedom. is only i could ride around naked...

recumbent nearly killed me the other day. he was passing a jogger, in the middle of a blind curve. i crested the curve to see him, in my lane, and had to apply ample braking. also, nearly eaten by a hawk/falcon the other week. came on it while it was eating, on the side of the trail, and it started turning toward me, as if to say, "i'll eat you too." so i crossed to the other side, of the trail, and sped off. i've done the river legacy route seventeen out of the last thirty days. i'm enjoying the quick twenty-two mile ride but i'd love to get back out to trinity and go, for a long one.

ex-gf's boyfriend told me i'm allowed to hang out with her again. because he's afraid she's looking around, for someone else. i think i'm going to wash my hands, of that whole mess. if i'm going to be getting yelled at, for having sex, then i want to actually be having sex. only seems fair.
