Ah, vacation time. My, that sounds like a good idea, and it was very much needed. During my time away, I got to see Epcot which I had never been to before. I also spent some time with Dad at his new place in Ft. Myers (he moved there from WI). I made the mistake of packing a few polos and short sleeve button down shirts which I didnt wear as much as I thought I would. It was in the 90s majority of the time I was there, so I only needed them at night if at all. All in all it was a good vacation.

Apparently I'm on a music sharing binge. Next artist up: Doom-tree!! (Wings and teeth!) Love this crew and how each rapper brings a different spin to the genre whether running solo or as a collective.

Granted it's not the best representation on you tube, but If you dig their style, check out any of their stuff on the inter-webs.

Lostprophets, a band I got into ages ago whose varying music styles has drawn them almost as many critics as fans. (You know how it is when a band changes and evolves, and/or becomes somewhat more popular...)

Their new album finally came out in the US on 6/19. Better still, they're finally coming across the Atlantic to perform in the US again as part of the Vans Warped Tour. I haven't seen them since 2006, so I'm stoked!

Here's a single from their new album. I love how the beginning of this video plays out...

Wisdom teeth suck! I had most of mine removed years ago, except for this slow moving one that hadn't fully come through. Years later it eventually did, but hadn't become a nuisance until recently. During the downtime/waiting period for it, I had lost my health insurance and then got it back, but had yet to find a new dentist that would take my coverage. I suppose the pain I now suffer through at times, is a bit of reminder of why I should have gotten to that sooner.
Here my cheesy artist depiction of what I'm dealing with:

zoom image

How the wisdom tooth ended up growing in like that, I don't know. The pain scale varies through a typical day rating anywhere from a 2 all the way to an 11, (if the scale was a 1-10, with ten being excruciating). I like to think I have a pretty good tolerance for pain, from past experiences, but this is definitely upping the bar for me. It's amazing how something so small can hurt so much, but I chalk it up to the amount of nerves and parts of the body it's interconnected to. Plus the fact the tooth is pushing into the rest of my teeth is making it more painful and creating headaches. In the meantime I've been doing my best to keep on keeping on at a more relaxed pace while taking pain relief meds when needed. I often visualize myself as a boxer (a common metaphor I like with life events) who's been knocked down, but isn't out. Just gotta keep fighting and be like "is that all you got?"

I can't get to a dentist til at least tomorrow, when I will begin a local search to find one who can take my insurance and hopefully do it for a reasonable rate. Of course, I also want to make sure it's a place that will handle it right, as paying less and having it messed up or done wrong would not be good. I'd love to get it done same day, as tomorrow is the only day I have free enough from my work schedule to make it happen. Otherwise, I'll get the next soonest date through a good dentist that covers all my bases. Hopefully all the cards will fall properly in a timely manner so I can get rid of the pain. Toothache pain is definitely not something to mess with or take lightly. Lesson learned.

It's the time of year again to start considering where I want to travel this summer. I love traveling, whether it be seeing somewhere new or revisiting old haunts. The key for me, is to try and find someplace that combines some fun, but that is also cost effective. Airline tickets and gas prices are more than likely to rise as spring chugs along into summer, creating a search for the lesser of the two evils. However, having friends and family around the country to visit presents some possibilities for savings. For now the long list (not set in stone) thus far includes:

----------------------------------------------------------

FLORIDA (Ft. Meyers & surrounding areas):

PROS/CONS: I have immediate family there, which gives me savings in housing costs. Nice weather. Lots of adventures in various directions. I was there beginning of the year already to help family move, but still more to discover. Some parts could be overrun with tourists, but then again, this could be true of any popular places to visit. Tis the time for traveling after all.

zoom image
---------------------------------------------------------

CALIFORNIA: (LA & surrounding areas)

PROS/CONS: Family there as well to help save in housing and transportation costs. Potential career opportunities to research while there. However, I've done parts of Cali the last two summers, granted there is still plenty more to see or mix in this time around.

zoom image
---------------------------------------------------------

NEW YORK Ver. 1 (New York City area)

PROS/CONS: Never been there, so much I've wanted to see and do. Unfortunately, higher costs in general mixed with no family/friends to stay with = so long, saving money, hello fun times. Alas, this will come someday, probably not this year.

---------------------------------------------------------

NEW YORK Ver.2 (Buffalo and surrounding areas)

PROS/CONS: Have friends to see/stay with there. Niagara Falls is nearby. Toronto, which I've never been to (I haven't even been out of the country) is drivable, giving more possibilities, if Buffalo isn't enough.

zoom image

--------------------------------------------------------

MIDWEST (areas of WI / IL , maybe MI)

PROS/CONS: Tons of places to stay family/friend wise, and things to do within driving distance, providing the most money savings/options. Minor downer of lack of newness with it being familiar territory, but still plenty of adventure to be had. Michigan could also be added potentially since I have connections there as well, and because its not that far of a jaunt from where I'd be staying.

zoom image
---------------------------------------------------------

There's also the possibility of not going anywhere to save the most money, but I feel like I would eventually get somewhat stir crazy. Life is short and its good to see the world. So now its time to research and ponder and see what works best.. There's no rush to decide yet, but you never know when a good deal is waiting to be discovered.

Is it me, or is there an influx of cars having one headlight out on their car? I had mine go out about 5-6 months ago, and after I replaced it, I started seeing them more often. Reminded me of situations like when you buy what you think it is not that common a car (or even color of the model) and then all of a sudden you start seeing it more often afterwards.

zoom image

When I start seeing a few cars with "one headlight", I sometimes like to imagine there is some contagious virus being passed on from vehicle to vehicle, because it seems to be showing up more readily. I realize the abundance could come from the economy not being in the best state. Another repair cost to deal with when you have no time or worse, no money to fix it sucks. (I was lucky to have mine occur at a reasonable time money wise.) However, it annoys me when people try to compensate this problem by putting on their bright lights. Anybody else ever encounter this?

If I only came across this on rare occasions, I wouldn't care so much, but there also seems to be an abundance of people attempting to go the "just throw my brights on" route as well. I know you can get pulled over and a possible ticket for having a headlight out, but I would think you could get pulled over for having your brights on to compensate as well? Besides, wouldn't having your brights on draw more attention anyways? It does when I see you in my rear view mirror, with your one bright and one one regular headlight. "Really?" I typically find myself saying, (sometimes followed by some french) as I try to adjust my viewing capabilities...

Alas, if only it was like a treatable contagious virus, and I could just dole out some sort of cure to the afflicted... other than wanting to just take out their other light and be done with it. Just gotta deal with it, I suppose. Though, it felt good to get that out. Rant done.

Wow, it's been a long time since I last posted on here. Probably too long. Since I last posted, some things have happened:

- I graduated college with a degree in Video Production.

- I finished my long delayed 2 part film project. (It took 5+ years with everyone's conflicting schedules).

- I took an awesome vacation to the LA / Hollywood area. Besides the beach, some local eateries, and museums, I saw a lot of show tapings. They included; Ferguson, Conan, Kimmel, Leno and The Price Is Right (though I didn't get called down). All in all, it was blast!

- More recently, I'm looking into putting some money together to make an eventual move to Cali, possibly a year from now.

In other news, I figured I'd entertain those who happened upon this blog with a cheesy video. It's a clip we did on the fly in between scenes of the movie project. One might call it an attempt at a more than unqualified PSA. That sounds good to me.

This is a lil' film-noir style short film some friends and I created a while back for fun. Granted it's not award winning, but I figured why not post it and see what people thought of it. Bear in mind, it is around nine minutes long.
