Sara Cox - right, basically she does the morning show on BBC Radio 1 over here and she is about the most annoying person on that station which is really saying something considering the competition. And she plays dance music at 8am which is just not the time anyone should have to hear it (in fact, ANY time is pretty much the time no-one should have to hear dance music...)

Cosmic Rough Riders - Scottish indie group, very Byrds-influenced. If you've heard of a group called Teenage Fanclub, the two are very similar. If I was gonna have to recommend one of their albums to you, it'd be this un, "Enjoy The Melodic Sunshine"

Great stuff - "The Pain Inside" and "Melanie" are absolutely brilliant. The first one was kind of my "closure" song after I split up with an ex quite badly about a year back when the album came out.

And yes, you're right, I am on cloud nine a bit regarding the mighty Pools' progress this season!

ok. allow me to elaborate as to why, in fact, life is a curse.

a- kris, you are right! things with my would-be lovely did not improve. as a matter of fact, they took a nosedive of of a 200 story building into a meat grinder!

i had a meeting with her to discuss the situation. i told her that i think we were moving a bit too fast, and that maybe we should slow it down a bit. i explained that what took place was great, and that i really do like her, but that maybe it wasn't the best thing to do as now i feel a bit awkward around her.

she threw her drink in my face and told me i was a lying sack of shit that just wanted to get into her pants. and then left.

so there i am looking like a total chump in the middle of a crowded bar. lovely, eh?

b- i have been officailly knocked down a peg at work. i try my hardest but just can't seem to catch a break!!

my direct superior is going on vacation for 2 weeks. usually he leaves me in charge and delegates minor work to the other people, leaving me with the important work. when he announced he was leaving, i was ready to assume my new duties. but he decided to pass me up and give the "lead worker" title to another person.

i thought, "ok. maybe he just wants to make sure EVERYONE has the skills to do what needs to be done in his absence. i can deal with that. hell, they'll probably ask me what to do anyways!"

but after the meeting he informs me that he has instructed them to not ask me for help, and that he would like it if i did as little as possible. i naturally ask why, as i am gunning for a higher position and this is great experience. to which he says, "i just don't think you have what it takes anymore."

c- i come home yesterday pissed at this weeks happenings. i open my door and find that my brothers (roomies) are home, which is a rarity. so i go to one of their rooms to say hi..... and i walk in on him with his girl.

mind you--- DOOR OPEN! how was i supposed to know?? so i back up and look away.... but leave my hand on the door frame. he slams the door and my left middle finger gets BROKEN!!!!!!

so now, even though i need to play my bass to make me feel better (i usually play some reggae or just strum beats to mellow out), I CAN'T!!!

d- i take my car to the mechanic, as it is a newer car and is completely computerized... making all my skills at cars useless. it was making a rattling noise from what sounded like the valves so i wanted to get it checked.

the valves are jacked. the spark plugs are directly connected to the valves (doing away with the distributer). somehow one of the plugs came loose and jacked one of the valve heads up. so now i have to get the part re-machined and will cost me $1500.

there goes my vacation fund. and i REALLY need a vacation.

so that, dear friends, is why life is a curse. i have the worst luck in existence and just wish i could have a peaceful, quiet day. just one.
