I am the hero of my story. I don't need to be saved.
That's what a hero should say right? I suppose we are all the heros of our own tellings, but we are not all superman. We don't all have superpowers to fight the evils in life, but we still have the same evils to contend with. We have the weapons we need inside of us, but sometimes the will to fight just isn't quite there. Sometimes we fight when it's what we shouldn't do. How are we suppost to know when and when not to act.
I guess that's why no one has or will ever write a comic book about me. I'm not as good of hero as superman or batman. Mine is a darker story I suppose. One filled with the stories of a hero with many flaws. A person who doesn't always know what to do or how to handle a foe. A hero who doesn't always have the strength or power to save everyone else. I don't have super human strength or lazer vision. I can't see into the future or heal wounds with the snap of a finger.
My superpower is that I make mistakes, just like everyone else, but no matter how many mistakes I always seem to find the unimaginable strength to fight my way through them and come out on the brighter, more learned side of life. My superpower is to always get back up when I fall. Even if it takes longer then expected. My superpower is to fight for those I love and live for what I believe in.
My burden is to never let anyone get in the way of me and my life or my loved ones. My burden is to switch off a feeling at the drop of a hat in order to make the right decision. My burden is to make the right decision even if it means hurting someone in the process. You cannot save every soul. My burden is to choose who I can save.
No one else can do these tasks but myself. I alone carry the strength and heart to accomplish them. To be a hero is to understand that your fight is never over. Your conflict never resolved. There will always be new and afflicting challenges. My superpower and my burden is never giving up.

"I shall only ask for a long life
and that I may continue to risk it
so others do not have to.
A strong shield. A sharp sword.
For I intend to go in harms way.
And when I stand in judgement,
measure my quality by
the evil that i stood against...
And by the evil that I removed from this earth."
