So I went down to the LA art walk yesterday night just to promote the documentary film my small indie doc company that I work for directed and produced - The Philosopher Kings. Interestingly enough, I've never truly seen LA until last night. I know I grew up in the OC, and I've been to LA countless times, but each time it was just for something somewhere and then go back home or to wherever I called home at the time. I felt like I've lived all my life around LA and yet last night was the first time I actually discovered it.
I finally get all those songs talking about the lights and sounds of LA....and the people there are amazing. So many food cards, so many street performers - it was just amazing overall. I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover what LA's all about and yet at the same time, all I can think of is wanting to check it out more to see what weird things I can discover.
Anyways, I'll definitely be going back to the next art walk, or just any other chance I can get to experience more whatever LA has to offer. I did pick up this really sick skateboard deck at Mr. Cartoon's shop.
I'm collecting interesting and awesome skate decks, and when I saw this deck, I couldn't pass it up.
On a totally random and side note, I keep walking into spider webs this week for some weird reason. I don't know how it's possible when someone walks through a door in front of me and then I walk in behind them and somehow run into a spider web but shit like that keeps happening to me, and moreso this week for some reason. It kinda sucks but this morning I walked into one and didn't think anything of it until I found a spider crawling up my neck 5 minutes later. I'm not one to scream like a girl, but spiders....ugh, that sort of thing just ain't my bag baby.
Oh and another random tangent, I saw a blue spider in Haiti. Anyone ever heard of anything like that? Obviously I'm not going to go pet it, but maybe I'll just give it the benefit of the doubt and assumed that the little guy might of eaten a blueberry recently. heh.
Addendum: Score! found my burt's bees chapstick. Thought I lost it again. Yaknow, it's funny - stupid things that cost nothing, like chapsticks, you are more likely to replace because you lost them as opposed to finishing them to the end. I have yet to finish a full stick of burt's bees, perhaps that can be a small goal in my life - to finish one before I lose it. We'll see though...
