This homework from @rambo and @missy is a hard one! They asked us to tell you all what our favorite movie is and why....
Well my favorite movie might be a bit obvious but the reasoning may not be. I'm in LOVE with Star Wars (the original series....I didn't care so much for the newer ones). Out of the 3 originals, The Empire Strikes Back would probably be the favorite....I know I know, I'm weird because Return of the Jedi isn't my favorite....but I'm a Sith, so come on ;)
The original Star Wars came out in 1977...8 years before I was born. Empire released in 1980 and Jedi in 83. All of which were, again, before I was born....However, my dad being the huge nerd that he is introduced me to them when I was 5. He bought them on VHS and I watched them nearly everyday until the tapes broke! In 1997 my dad took me to see the Special Editions in theater when they released before we moved to Germany. I used to wear my hair like Princess Leia (mind you I had loooong hair passed my butt) everyday to school....and not her notorious buns but her braids...the ones from Empire and Jedi. Which inevitably got me made fun of everyday. Being a nerd those days was horrible.
I didn't belong anywhere in school, I had no friends, no "social" groups, nothing. I went to school and went home....alone. I spent my days learning the Star Wars theme music...including the song from the Cantina on the Piano and began to write my own stories about the characters. I collected tons of Star Wars books, toys, etc....a lot of which I still have today including an original Mint in box Princess Leia doll from 1977 and the original movie poster in mint condition from 1977.
Because I had no friends and was picked on, I ended up engulfing myself into the Star Wars world to escape my real life woes. I spent hours a day playing Star Wars games on the computer, reading books, the list goes on. Star Wars saved my life in a way.....it kept my depression under control because I felt accepted by other Star Wars fans....I used to chat online with them when the internet first go started....I'm sure we all remember AOL and AIM. haha. I didn't feel like no one wanted to be around me when I was in those worlds.
I still to this day collect toys from Star Wars, the boxes never to be opened. Hell, my name is MaraJade....for those who don't know she was a Sith, the Emperor's Hand and later on ended up marrying Luke. (that was the only bad thing she did ;) ) I myself am a Sith and even own the "Book of Sith" which is basically the Sith Bible lol.
Thank you Star Wars!
