So, I am absolutely in love with my new school. I could use any number of cliched adjectives to describe my students, and it still wouldn't do them justice. I honestly can't believe I lucked into this job.

Also, Facebook can kiss my ass.

Oh my god, you're still single?! At 27?

Congrats on the new school going so well! smile

And I used to get those ads, too. "28 and Still Single?" Then when I turned 29: "29 and Still Single?". I took my relationship status off the page and now I don't get those ads. Instead I get ones about stock market trading (???)

Quick, dude, before tomorrow: You still need to add your BCS Championship picks to your post here.

'Brosa quotes why in an earlier post:

In the event of a tie at the end of the contest, I'm also asking each person to predict the two teams who will be selected for the BCS Championship Game.

No problem. Being confused by what two schools the BCS eventually takes is an annual tradition for all fans today, and something I wouldn't want any of us in the group to miss out on.

I just hope somebody crashes the party this year (although my own picks don't reflect that).

I should have posted on your page a long time ago. You made some great posts in the baseball group, my fellow White Sox fan.

Are you also a Bears fan?

I've always gone against the grain when it's come to sports. When I was growing up, just about all of my friends and schoolmates were Yankees, Dodgers or Giants fans. I had to be contrary and root for a different team. Hence, came a 53 year association with the White Sox.

From that affiliation came the Bears and Bulls. I also used to follow hockey and was a Black Hawks fan, but don't follow the sport much anymore.

My father came from Europe and was a big soccer and boxing fan. He did come to like pro basketball and became a Philadelphia Warriors fan because of Wilt Chamberlain. Of course they eventually became the Golden State Warriors.

I'm really glad it not just me that gets pissed off at those facebook adverts, though it does amuse me that I get one s for gay dating sites as well, just so they're covering all their bases.

What grade do you teach? My younger daughter is a kindergarten teacher here in New York. My older daughter is also a teacher. She's taking time out from teaching to be a mom. She lives in North Carolina.

I have the same fears as you about the election. I don't trust the polls for a number of reasons. I would elaborate, but as an obviously intelligent and perceptive person, you probably would list the same reasons.

It's so nice to hear how you feel about the kids you teach. My younger daughter feels the same way about her students. She loves teaching. I can't imagine that she would ever become jaded, as many other teachers unfortunately become over time.

You mention that you teach theatre. My younger daughter is very active in community theatre and is the featured performer in a local singing group. She's in the midst of rehearsal for Oklahoma. Admittedly, she's a much better singer than actress. The important thing is that she LOVES performing.

Keep up the good work. The importance of good teachers cannot be overemphasized.

I feel much the same way. It's a very emotional time for me considering my many years of fighting bigotry and hatred wherever I've encountered it. I never would have believed this could happen in my lifetime. I'm so glad I was proven wrong.

How was your Thanksgiving? This year was especially difficult without my older daughter and my grandchildren not being able to make it up here. I hope you had a great day.
