The homework from @missy for this week was to talk about our very first concert. This one is going to be embarrassing...
My first real concert was waaaayyyy back in 7th grade(god, it feels like forever!). I went to see Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, and Less Than Jake. Even though I barely knew the second two bands, I remember being so insanely excited for the entire week building up to it. My two girlfriends and I were all going together, and we counted down every day, until finally it was down to hours. When we got to the concert, our tickets were in seats most of the way up in the first section, but being the total badasses we were at the ripe old age of 13, we worked our way down to the floor. While one of us kept an eye on security, we all hopped the barrier to get into the big crowd in front of the stage. It was absolutely incredible. I'm pretty damned good in a crowd, so I managed to push my way through almost to the front of the stage, dragging my friends along with me. When we wanted to get out, though, that was a whole other story. Everyone was packed in so tight that the easiest way out was up, so up I went...and off came my brand new, less than a week old, gym shoe. Yes, that's right. Just one. My mother's one instruction before I had left that night was not to go anywhere near the floor crowd. I had thought I'd get away with it, right up until that moment when I felt my shoe slip off. I made my friends stay until the last people had cleared out, so we could hunt for it, like I was Cinder-fuckin-rella. No such luck. The only part that was worse than facing my mom was walking down a major Chicago street to the our waiting ride and facing my best friend's incredibly cute older brother. I ended up keeping the other shoe as a keepsake and having my friends sign it, with the date of our concert. I have no clue what happened to it, in the past few years, but I imagine it's somewhere in my parents' attic, waiting for me to find it for a good laugh. :-)
(Definitely had this EXACT poster on my bedroom wall. Oh, how in love with those Madden brothers I was...)
