Hey all...what's going on?? Hopefully everyone is doing well...or better than yesterday. Just wanted to give an update on how things are going with me.
Tomorrow my journey begins. I start my drive/move to Portland. 1800 miles....yeah...I know....long trip. But I'm looking forward to it. I'm ready to begin my life in Portland. Of course it's going to take me awhile to get situated...but I've moved before so no worries. I know I have to get familiar with the area...but it's all good. Discovery can be fun at times.
So..goodbye midwest...no more allergy issues...no more non-alternatives to driving everywhere...no more flat land...it's been real.
Hello...mountains...ocean...light rail....wineries and fresh air....nice to meet to you.
Not sure when I will be back on, so if I miss your birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY in advance! And as always, keep the music blasting, keep dancing, keep that favorite drink flowing and keep those clothes off...lol...take care...and be easy.

Hey all...what's going on? I hope everyone's today is better than everyone's yesterday....and everyone's tomorrow is better than everyone's today.
Well...I've accepted the position at that second company. I start on June 15th. My last day at my current job is June 5th. I'm relieved to finally have a job in Portland. It's rough out here...and I'm fortunate to land something as soon as I did. I've been all over the web, all in the Oregonian, and all in the Apartment Guide looking for apartments. I've also been looking up places that I need to know in Portland...barbershops...DMV...utilities...transportation....supermarkets...wine tastings (lol)....you name it. Just trying to be prepared. I think I'm going to give myself about 5 days (or more) to drive there. Want to see some places I've never been. Heading north from here....maybe go through the Dakotas...we'll see though...still planning all of that.
I'm glad that I have a date that I need to be there...it let's me know that SOON...I'll be there for my daughter. It sucks being this far away from her...but as you know, that wasn't my choice. So...thank you all for your support and kind words. If anyone can suggest some stops for me on my way HOME...let me know.
Also, just because it's warm outside in most places, doesn't mean that you can't turn your music up, pour your favorite drink and sing and dance to your favorite song. Just remember though...clothing is still optional....

Hey all...what's going on? Hope everyone had a good week...I hope it was productive or relaxing or both. If it was stressful or painful or heartbreaking for you....breath...and know that you can only do what you can do! Also know that whatever it is, it could always be worse. So....it will pass....you will move on.
Thanks to all for those well wishes regarding my interviews in Oregon. They both went very well. As of yesterday afternoon, I was one of the last two candidates for both jobs. As of yesterday evening I was the number one choice for one of those jobs. I will get another call from that company on Monday to talk about salary, relocation, possible signing bonus, time frame,...etc. I was really happy to get that phone call...it was definitely a relief. I expect to hear back from the company that flew me out there by Friday. It would be nice if it was before so I could have a few days to decide on which job I'd take....if I was offered that job as well that is. So we'll see.
I also got to spend time with my little girl. She's so smart...so funny. I was only there from Tuesday to Thursday, but I made sure that I saw her every single day. I miss her.,,what can I say?? I also took her to school Thursday morning. I saw her classroom and met her teacher. She had nothing but great things to say about my daughter...I was happy to hear that.
Portland...I like it...I like it a lot. I didn't see a whole lot of it...but the places I did see were alright. And that goes for the places that I saw when I got lost a few times....lol. The weather wasn't great..but it is what it is. I can't wait to move there.

Hey all...what's going on? Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. My weekend has been a little busy...went to the Tigers/Royals game on Friday. The Tigers lost but made up for by kicking the Royals' asses yesterday. Yesterday I went to the first screening of a local film called, "Last Breath". It was directed by Ty Jones and Produced by Aaron Laue. I helped with the production of it...AND my name is in the credits (Leroy Metcalf)...kind of threw me back when I saw that. he movie was good...it was Ty's first feature film...so in my opinion, he's on his way. Other than that...just watched the NFL draft and chilled out.
As I mentioned before, I'll be in Portland from Tueday to Thursday for an interview. Well...I got an email on Wednesday from another company that I applied with and they wanted to have a 15 minute phone interview with me. I strategically made it for this past Friday. It went pretty well....at the end of the call they told me that they wanted to have a more extensive phone interview next week. I informed them that I will be in town for a few days and told them if they wanted to meet in person, I could make myself avaible. Soooo....I now have two interviews in Portland this week and I'm looking forward to it. We'll see how it goes.
BTW...has anyone ever heard of The Heathman Hotel...that's the hotel they put me up in. I've found some things online about it, but I don't know anyone that has ever been...if anyone is familiar with it, let me know what you think about it.

I'm backkkkkk!! What's going on everyone? I hope everyone either had a nice week...or a productive one. Well....DC was cool...the weather sucked up until Thursday....but it was cool. The conference was long...but the happy hours made up for it...lol. I did some sight seeing on Thursday...went past the White House...as I was standing at the gate...it opened and some guy riding a cart came out....and I thought...hmmm...if I ran through the gate...I wonder how far I'd get....and since I'm typing this blog of course I didn't do it...lol...but I thought about it...I went to the Museum of Natural History, the Vietnam War Veterans Memorial, the United States Capitol Building, the Washington Monument, the reflecting pool, the Constitution Gardens and the Lincoln Memorial. I can now cross those things off of my list on things I want to see. I was tired after that...lol..
Quick job update...the company that I've been having phone interviews with is flying me out there on the 28th of this month to have a formal interview. I'm looking forward to that...I'll be out there until the 30th...so I'll get to spend some time with my daughter.
Again...I'm still cautiously optimistic...so we'll see.
I have a question...call me dumb or naive or whatever...I had a taxi driver from Ethopia....he told me his wife is from Ethopia as well. They have a 5 year old son, and another on the way. Their son was born here in the US. Would their son have an accent?? I've been thinking about that since I got out of the taxi..... I mean...although his parents have accents....doesn't mean he will or does....what do you think???

Hey all...what's going on? I hope everyone's well. Quick job update....I had my second phone interview today and it went very, very well. They want me to fly out either the last week of April or the first week of May for a third and formal interview. I'm really looking forward to that, Although this is good news, I still have to hope for the best but plan for the worst. I do that so I won't be shocked on whatever happens...good or bad. So...wish me luck!!
AND...for all of you out there that's suffering from spring fever....easy fix. Turn the heat up all the way in your house...turn up the music....make sure it's a good summer time song....grab your favorite drink...and dance....clothing optional....cheers!!
