"There's nothing terribly wrong with feeling lost, so long as that feeling precedes some plan on your part to actually do something about it."
-Jhonen Vasquez, JTHM
I've been feeling lost lately. Worse, I haven't made a plan to do anything about it. All too often, we become content to wallow in our irresolute predicament of self-pity. Why is it that self-analysis is lost on such a majority of the population? I suppose it's partly because our wonderful little society focuses so much attention on the outward appearance. No one considers such literary works as 'The Picture of Dorian Gray,' which, while a work of fiction, illustrates (sorry-bad pun) that the inner character affects the person's physical appearance.
I really could care less what people think of my two-tone hair, piercings, tats, or other bodily adornment. They don't know me from Adam. Conformity is a cancer. Individualism should be celebrated, not shunned. Yet this culture we've created champions conformity. Ah, well. Not every rant is perfect.
