George Carlin May 12, 1937 - June 22, 2008
He was my favorite comedian. The only ones to come close are Steve Martin (when he was still doing stand up) and Groucho Marx.
I was shocked last night to hear he'd died.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080623/ap_on_en_tv/obit_george_carlin
He will be missed by many, though I can only speak for myself. He wasn't just ONE of the best, he was THE BEST. An influence on how I think of Comedy as well as an influence on my Atheism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_carlin
My favorite quote would probably be this:
"Religion has convinced people that there's an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money."
http://blogzarro.com/?p=226?fk
But this one is pretty good too:
"Here's another question I've been pondering -- what is all this shit about angels? Have you heard this? Three out of four people belive in angels. Are you fucking stupid? Has everybody lost their mind? You know what I think it is? I think it's a massive, collective, psychotic chemical flashback for all the drugs smoked, swallowed, shot, and obsorbed rectally by all Americans from 1960 to 1990. Thirty years of street drugs will get you some fucking angels, my friend!"
and:
"The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse: You cannot post "Thou shalt not steal," "Thou shalt not commit adultery," and "Thou shalt not lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges, and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment."

My Horror movie ratings rundown:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween (original versions) are recommended highly!
Halloween (4 Stars)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (4 Stars)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre -remake- (2 Stars). Bloodier than the original, the family of maniacs is more vicious, but less interesting. Jessica Beil is really, really, really hot though.
Return of the Living Dead (4 Stars).
Phantasm (3 Stars). It'd be 4 stars if that ending didn't annoy me.
Pumkinhead (3 Stars).
Nightmare on Elm Street (4 Stars).
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (3 Stars).
Nightmare on Elm Street: A New Nightmare (2 stars).
Friday the 13th (1 Star) a cheap Halloween rip off with more blood but less suspense!
War of The Worlds (remake) (3 Stars). It LOOKED like a SF movie, sure, but it WAS a horror movie. Aliens invading, massive property destruction, people killed by death machines, and loads of bidies floating down the river. THAT'S HORROR! Well directed by Speilberg, and well acted by Tom Cruise. As obnoxious as he may have been on TV, he CAN act.
Shaun of the Dead (FIVE STARS!) Humor, terror, friendship, love, and one of the best jokes EVER! (The "Barbara" reference).
I also liked SAW much more than I expected I would. Suspenseful, clever, and not too much gore, given the subject matter.

I've been selling stuff on ebay

(link here) http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmetalfanaticQQhtZ-1QQfrppZ50QQfsopZ1QQfsooZ1QQrdZ0
and watching SOUTH PARK!
oh, possibly the best song ever is: "Kyle's Mom's A Bitch" as performed by Eric Cartman.
WORST BANDS Ever: Air Supply, Boys 2 Men, Dave Mathews Band, A.C., Grateful Dead, all "boy bands", Good Charlotte, REM except for 2 songs, Jessica Simpson (nice legs though!), Ricky Martin/Jennifer Lopez, COLDPLAY (take as needed to induce sleeping), Mariah Carey (screeeeeeeeeeeeach!), all "emo" bands I've heard so far (but that's just what I've seen on tv shows), limp bizcut, coal chamber, Nickelback, Creed (Yes, Jesus hates creed, as does Mohammed, Buddah, and everyone else), Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Counting Crows (is that hair on the singers head or a clump of compost?), Kingdom Come (Kingdom CLONE, as they were called), Hootie and the Blowfish (also worst name ever!), Live (most boring and generic name ever), Barbara Streisand/Celine Dion/Liza Minnelli and all that phony crap for rich people to sit and watch while thinking about the interest accruing in their bank accounts and then remembering they forgot to turn their cell phone off and the phone rings RIGHT THEN and the ringtone is the theme from "Who's the Boss?" and someone screams!, Enuff Z'Nuff, Tuff (worst glam band ever?), Warrior Soul, Goo Goo Dolls, Blind Melon, Tin Machine (how a musical genius like David Bowie could lead such a lame and bland groud like this I have no idea), Kenny G/Michael Bolton (yes, this is a given), Crash Test Dummies (is it a good idea to have a form of the word DUMMY in your name? No!), Billy Ray Cyrus (all that's wrong with modern country music in ONE performer!), The Rembrants (they made that horrible theme song for "Friends", remember?), Jack Johnson (stick to surfing, asswipe!), James Blunt (ugh!your 15 minutes are up.. please go away now.), Moby/Tricky (are they the same guy somehow? I get the same reaction to their "music", zzzzzzzzz), Ours (I've never heard of them either, til I bought a cheap cd), Hed(P.E.) (white boys who think they can rap- shut it!), Coal Chamber, MORE later.

The problem with ranking artists and deciding whom I like better is complicated. I know I like Iron Maiden better than Steve Miller, but what about David Bowie verses Slade? Testament verses Destruction?
