ah, another whiny journal entry. things i don't want to be:

i don't want to be introverted

i don't want to wake up tired every morning.

i don't want to work in retail.

i don't want to be single

i don't want to be moody all of the time

i don't want to be a shitty poet.

i don't want to be "the keyboardist"

i don't want to be on the verge of tears most of the time

i don't want to be "so nice"

i don't want to be allergic to the outdoors

i don't want to be so often misread.

i don't want to be so restrained.

anyway, the show went well, and most people left happy, i think. i got drunk halfway through the set, an played really loud. improvisation is the single best thing in the world. it's rare that we play together, and it's awesome to be among friends, building something.

I haven't really improved in awhile. I miss it so much. When it is good and everything is working...nothing beats it.

I blame it on being obsessed with collecting paint samples as a child & organizing them endlessly. even so far as sitting around with bongos & reading their varied names as if they were poetry.

I share at least a few of your complaints. just remember-- it's all improvisation. Convince yourself you meant to play all those "wrong" notes. And then keep playin', singin', dancin'.

The funny thing is, I don't believe anyone wants to work retail. That being said, its amazing how many of us willingly (?) subject ourselves to it on a near-daily basis.

Human beings are odd indeed.

Is this the film you were talking about? Netflix doesn't seem to have it (suprise, suprise), but theres a really awesome little independent movie place by my apartment that claims they will order anything that they don't already have on hand.

Mr. Don't-wanna-be (and I think this is better than being a wanna-be ),

I shall be in Chicago this coming week from Tuesday evening (in principle) to Friday evening, when I go to another hemisphere. Wanna grab an espresso or whatever?
