Am I happy for a 3 day weekend or what?!

zoom image

This is the first time in over 13 years that I get to enjoy Memorial Day weekend. I'm loving it! My husband and his buddy are roughin' it and going camping. It's tradition with them. No, they are really roughin' or shall I say, ruffin' it. They don't use tents. Just open land. I always ask if he's worried a deer my stomp his skull in at night. He just looks at me and shakes his head. He loves my stupid questions. I love to ask him! His friend said he can sometimes feel field mice run over his body at night. Now, if I was years younger, the thought wouldn't bother me, but I hate to say over the years, i'm becoming more squirmish. I hate it. I am so not the feminine type. KikiBH and I have said before if we were in a relationship together, I by far would be "the man". So back to this camping thing, it's crazy. I've never gone with them for obvious reasons. I used to think that I wanted to go but catching fish with your bare hands and eating it raw, wrestling your food from bears, wearing rawhide, it just doesn't appeal to me! I give them mad props though. My husband used to be a big outdoors man. He'd rock climb and all that good stuff. I don't know though. I just don't know.

So what will I be doing? Well, I went for my morning run, made the boys a yummy breakfast before they left. Went to the gym. Now, i'm relaxing. I want this to be a long, lazy weekend. Lot's of nothing. I bleached some of my hair. I may bleach alittle more. Exciting, huh?!

I will leave now, and continue more nothing. Have a fantastic weekend and be safe.

Hi Buddy!

Happy "MJA does nothing weekend and loves it"!

I used to do the camping thing too. Haven't for awhile, but only because it just doesn't fit in my schedule anymore like it used to. I used to take my dog with me on my adventures. I had a small tarp that I would put down on the ground, and then my sleeping pad and sleeping bag. I'd hear her "gruff" occasionally in the night when some critter would come a bit to close. By morning, she had usually crept up and was laying by head on the small foam pillow that I used.....sometimes I'd wake up with my head on the ground and she was hogging the whole pillow. She's been gone quite a few years now...that's probably part of the reason I don't have the urge to camp as much.

I love your photos..... blush blush blush

I hope you have a great relaxing weekend!

Hmmmmmmm......I hadn't even noticed what KiKi so loudly points out in her post above me. I must admit that I was focused on your flat tummy.

Anyway, my rant is about how oblivious some women are to others while shopping....like they are the only ones in the store. And, how they don't obey the simple rules of traffic...just as if they were driving their car....meaning keep to the right, yield to oncoming traffic, park out of the way or other traffic, look both ways before turning, look before making sharp U turns, don't leave your vehicle/cart unattended and blocking traffic going both ways, etc. Yesterday was the kicker of all kickers. I was going down aisle 3....up ahead is a lady (without a cart) picking up and looking for a brief moment at every can/jar of instant tea. Totally engrossed in her task and mumbling to herself. Now, this was not some old, crazy woman...this was a woman, nicely dressed and in her late 30's to early 40's. I pass by her without so much as a hint of recognition that anyone, let alone me, is within 100 ft of her. I go on and make the turn at the end of the aisle. As I exit aisle 4 and make the turn into aisle 5, I see an unattended cart about 1/2 way down....sitting smack dab in the middle of the aisle...blocking traffic coming from either direction. I take a couple of things that I need from the shelf on the way down the aisle, until I reach the cart. Still no one is visible or around to claim the cart, though there are a few things in it. I reach out to the handle, to move it to the side so that I can pass, when I hear, "Hey! Leave that alone....that's my cart!" Of course it's the woman that I passed 2 aisles back, furiously reading the tea jars and oblivious to the rest of the world around her. Apparently, she rounded aisle 5 just as I reached out to move her cart, so that I could pass by and continue on. "My purse is that cart!, she almost screams at me. I wanted to verbally retaliate....I really did....but I guess my folks taught me better. I wanted to say, "Well next time don't walk off and leave your purse in an unattended cart that is in the middle of the aisle and blocking anyone from passing, you silly, stupid bitch!" Instead I said, "I'm sorry, but your cart was in the middle of the aisle....I was just moving it to one side, so that I could get by." At this point she took a death grip on the cart handle, whipped it around in a high speed U turn, underestimated the speed of her U turn and crashed the front of her cart into the side of mine....lifting my cart off of the 2 wheels on that side.....and stormed/stamped off in an enraged huff! Luckily, I noticed a few minutes later that she was the checkout counter, talking furiously with the clerk and pointing at me......I say luckily, because I didn't encounter her again in another aisle.

OK...rant over and I feel better.....thanks for letting me get that out!

So....how goes the nothingness???

See....I like cart drivers like you, cause you're having fun and are aware of everything around you. I'd be pretty likely to engage in a game of bumper carts or tag with the likes of you! I hate getting the cart with the wheel that squeaks or goes whump, whump, whump....but when I do, I tap on the metal of my cart with my ring and drum along a rhythm....people sometimes look at me strangely..... biggrin

That was a very nice thing to do with the flowers....I'm sure you made her day. Your Mama ( from your recent pic ) did right by you. Like I said in the testimonial....you have heart and soul.

The sun has finally chased away the lingering rain showers. I'm sipping some raspberry iced white tea and watching the squirrels play and the gold finch fight over the feeders. They are getting a late afernoon/early eveing snack before the sun sets I guess.

smile

PS....yeah leave it to our KiKi to find the peek a boo nip in the photo....she's just a wee bit of a naughty one! wink

Red wine is good for the heart! Chicken strips are OK in moderation.....I guess....though I've never been known for my moderation in particularly anything. biggrin

Yikes and what the hell? It's not supposed to be near 90 yet! And humid? That sounds like the July, August weather here, when people retreat to the comfort of the A/C whenever possible.

My little nap today has given me the impetus to find a good late night movie tonight.....I hope I can find something good. Or maybe I'll have to dig through my meager DVD collection to find something to watch. This weekend is John Wayne's 100th Bday celebration....maybe I should find El Dorado and watch that in his honor. He was born in a little Iowa town about 45 miles from me.....they are having a huge celebration this weekend, to honor his 100th Bday.

Chicken strips, love'em
And the Elephant Man was a hell of alot better movie than "the peace o CRAP that is Epic Movie" puke
This has got to be the worst movie I've seen in a very long time. surreal
Moving on to "Pan's Labyrinth"
Give you my review soon. wink smile

That's more like an areola slip.
So Mr. Glove can leave that behind (or front) to go camping????

Some people think that perfection is attainable, or even desirable.
I am not one of them.

I'm going running now too...
