early last summer I was sitting at a computer at work and there's a window right next to it and a little bird (tiny, really) smacked the window and died right there. he came to rest on the air conditioner in the lower half of the aforementioned window. there he stayed until he was quite well decomposed. in fact he didn't move until we removed the AC from the window for the cold weather season. feathers, bones, and legs take a long time to decompose.
