Sitting around waiting for my dad to come by so we can go car shopping... I've been ridiculously busy all week and it doesn't look like it will be much better this week! So much to grade, prep, write, etc.. I've got books to read, manuscripts to review and revise, and probably things I have completely forgotten about... But I guess its good for me to be busy right now.. Things with my ex deteriorated and I finally made the judgement call to 'unfriend' her for the time being.. Hard decision but I think it was the right thing to do so I can keep moving forward... I joined okcupid just to see what kinda folks are around here in New Jersey.. I really don't like using these kinda sites, makes me feel kinda like I am a loser.. But considering that I don't know many folks here, and the fact that I rarely go out, I guess its just the easiest thing to do.. I've had some seemingly nice folks contact me, and then some real sketchters.. But I haven't met anyone in person yet so... Went out with my buddy from work last night to a place called Otto's.. It was hilarious.. the place was dead, we met some guys that are just starting their own tattoo parlor in Asbury Park.. The one guys wife was pretty awesome and she claimed to have some tattooed friends she could introduce me to.. Might have to start hanging out at Otto's more! Oh well, back to work...

Hangin' by a thread is more like it!

I spent a month on OKQ when I was trying to get over someone.blackeyed I feel like it probably works a lot better for guys. I got tired of going on dates with guys who acted super into me and then flaked out after the second or third date. Either that or they'd eventually turn out to be kinda crazy/creepy/gross. I deleted my account after one guy got way too aggressive with me. As a dude I feel like you have a lot less to worry about.

One note, I noticed a lot of folks have been on there for years. Beware of the serial internet daters!

Yeah, i have had ZERO luck with any of those sites...I've got a couple women that seem to like chatting on there like its facebook.. and I had one that was overly eager to meet.. We were supposed to this past Sunday... but I blew it.. I thought she was supposed to text me, but on reviewing the emails I was supposed to text her... oh well.. I have no time for the ladies anyway I guess...

Ugh. Apologies for the negativity about online dating. I have a good friend who met her husband on a dating site. So it can work, but I think you really have to be good at filtering out the crazies.

I think I would have stuck with OKQ longer had it not been for that one terrible experience. Also, before I even finished filling out my profile it had been viewed by some douche I went to high school with, one of my guy friends and, here's the kicker, a guy who dumped me on Valentine's Day 3 years prior added me to his faves.

Anyway, back to work I go! Hope you have some wicked weekend plans!

ahahaha, I know exactly what you mean, I had a good female friend in Florida that did POF and went out with some real creepers.. She kept encouraging me to join at that point and I went on and looked and knew a bunch of the people on there, and realized it wasn't my cup of tea... As my buddy said last night 'I must be getting desperate'.... I wouldn't quite say I am desperate but I left Florida in August, was still with my ex through part of October and now we are halfway through November... Its not that I can't stand being alone... I have no problem with that.. But it would be nice to have someone to call, do things with, etc... My friend from work, his gf left him about the same time as mine left me.. So we have been commiserating... I feel like we are kind of this new norm, professionals in their 30's who were in grad school for a long time, want to meet someone the same age or a bit younger, and are having a hard time.. Well maybe this isn't new, but I think its becoming more prevalent... ok, enough waxing philosophical...
