I was supposed to have a baby shower today with all MDF's family, plus my Mom and Sister and some of my friends - including the family I work for. It got cancelled because of the whole ordeal with the house.
The family I work for kindly said that my Mom, Sister and I could stay at their house when they were in town since we didn't have a place to put them up, and hotels are ridiculously expensive.
This morning I woke up to a baby shower. I knew something was coming, I mean they said we'd do a brunch with the family. But they invited the neighbours from across the street (who I've also babysat for) and cooked enough for an army! They decorated with baby shower balloons and everything
Mydogfarted had been sleeping at our place (because of the animals) so he brought over some of the gifts we've received from family and friends to lay out and show off.
My friend AnneSwarm went all out with her care package. I was nearly in tears when I opened it. (Tons of great stuff, and while I *could* take a picture of it and post it, I'm going to wait a few weeks and take a picture of the baby showing it off.) Same with the goodies we got from LankaKitten, absolutely adorable stuff! Both of these ladies really showed how well they know me and MDF in their choices! (Baby temporary tattoos and tattoo flash crib set? YES!)
My mom and sister and Grandma all made stuff. (My sister's a cross stitcher, My mom's a knitter and my gramma's a quilter) Plus they bought a ton of stuff. My mom tried to stay away from the pinks and purples (as I asked) but couldn't help herself on a few things.
The family I work for and the family across the street went to our baby registries and made a HUGE dent in necessities like the nasal aspirator and the wash cloths - they included a few impulse buys that were things we totally need but didn't register for (Like socks )
Even my ex-husband and his girlfriend sent a gift up with my mom!

The food was incredible. I don't think I need to eat for the rest of the day!!
(Oh and I had mentioned to our hostess a few days before that I'd found a FABULOUS bakery that does red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing - and she bought some for the shower! )

What a good day.
It's time for a nap.
