I made sure the my kids intitials were cool, just incase they would use them like JD Saliner or MKF Fisher.
I ALLOWED their father to choose their middle names but I figured I did ALL the work I get to name them!

I'm glad that they weren't boys because it seemed like more people had an opinion on boys names, like they felt I HAD to name a boy after the father or grandfather.

I'd ignore them all I'd wanted to name my little one Eoghan (Owen) its Gaelic and i love it... but everyone gave me a hard time and i caved and went with the name I had picked when i was 16 Caiden (which everyone loves) and now there are tons of kids who have his name and it makes me sad that I let them get to me

Of course you might want to make "the hell you want to" into just one name, so the kid doesn't have 5 middle names.

My name is normal but uncommon. I almost never had someone else with the same name in my class, but it's not a name that anyone hasn't heard of.

That said, I do wish my parents had picked something a little... well, cooler. Like Varsis or Superfly.

Ooh, sorry lady. Naming your child is definitely your choice, and should be a FUN experience. Try to enjoy it and everyone else can just bugger off. The woman going through the labour gets the privilege of the name. If you end up naming her after someone, great, if not that's great too. Just make sure you like it and that when she's born, it seems to fit. You'll know when you see her.

Personally, I think the way to go is to pick an exotic, cool first name and a regular sounding middle name. If the kid decides the first name is embarrassing, he or she can go by the middle name. Making the exotic one the first name, though, makes it the default choice and prevents them becoming one of those obnoxious, pretentious kids who goes off to college and is suddenly named "Trinity" instead of "Jennifer". Instead, the choice is sort of reversed.
