supposed to go to Vegas - 1st convention - any tips?

only ever been to america once as a child, i liked it but never had a chance to see much of it.
May be working in NY next year, in the catskill mountains, rock hill, teaching diving for the summer months, what is your opinion on NY?

NY is a huge state

don't know much about Catskills - some parts quite natural and beautiful other parts made into upscale resorts

lots of folks vacation up there - cooler than the cities (as is natural in wooded high areas)
lots of lakes. lots of moneyed folk vacation there but so do middle class people
young honeymooners and older retired folk reminiscing - and every thing in between
supposed to be quite nice really

are you teaching diving as in sky diving or scuba ?

You have Grosse Pointe - high living incarnate
and just a few blocks away (if you get lost and don't drive in the way you were told) is a slum
and they told me that just outside of Detroit (or not too far away) is a KKK HQ?

sorry that is too polarized for my taste
the city is all black and some of the outskirts don't seem to allow for much integration

I was off in chicago for over a week at a convention / business trip/ had to behae but it was great seeing a new city with some one else's money. hate all of the forms you need to get the teravel expenses reimbursed but its a great way of exploring something new. and of course Im along to provide support so I don't have to worry about making any presentations - loved Chicago
