I have birthed a horrible, evil force into the world, sort of.

Check this shit out. It's from one of my favorite things in the internet, the Onion's AV Club. The AV Club article links back to a page on punk news dot com. That page links to a truly embarrassing local CT newscast, and to an article in the Hartford Advocate.

I wrote that article. So when I looked at the AV Club the other day, I had this weird moment where I flashed back to the first interview I did for the article. Anyway, I flashed back to that scene in the movie Election where Matthew Broderick explains that his story got emailed throughout the country.

I was hoping some wire service would pick up the story, but ain't nuthin' happenin' yet. More, as this story undevelops.

The older I get, the more I like Tom Petty.

Hearing Simon and Theodore stand in for the Heartbreakers makes me like him even more.

More of my dream has been posted on YouTube. This time they got to the part where Superman and Spider-woman fly around before they do some strange dance in a mysterious garden, then magically appear at the best disco dance party ever.

I don't know why it's in Indian.

People often ask me what my dreams are like. It's really hard to explain -- usually Spider-man's in it, there's this cowboy guy with a gun guitar, a half human cyborg man and some dude who turns into a giant for no reason.

So I was psyched to see somebody put it on Youtube. I don't know why it's in Japanese.

A friend of mine sent me this the other day:

The Russian poet in question is Edward Limonov. He's the head of some Stalinist Russian cult-like political party and a columnist for english language russian weekly the eXile. A journalist I once met at a bar in Prague called him a "beatnik fascist" and the more I think about it, the more right that guy seems.

Limonov was jailed a couple years ago on weapons charges. He's kind of an evil dude, but I really like him a lot. His eXile column, which he writes in really charming broken English, is consistently hilarious. And he's like a low rent James Bond villain. What's not to like?

I saw my former roommate yesterday for the first time since he moved to Chicago. It was cool to see him, but the reason I'm bringing it up is his blog. I think he has the most awkwardly named blog in the world.

http://statelyplumpbuckmulligan.blogspot.com/

It's actually pretty good, and I wish he would write more on it. It's a very odd mix of uber-liberal politics and stuff about the Philadephia Eagles.

More blogs should dedicate most of their time to one very typical blogging topic (politics, celebrity gossip, etc) and mix in something obsessive and random. I love that he obsesses over the Eagles. I can't really stand watching sports, but I love it when people are all into some sports team. As long as it's not the Red Sox or the Yankees. I am severely sick of both of those teams.

I watched Lady Vengeance last night. It's the 3rd movie in Korean directer Park Chan-wook's revenge trilogy. The seconf movie in that trilogy, Old Boy, is one of my favorite films of all time. It's a shocking, brutal movie with a great plot and just tons of weird stuff going on. There's also an amazing fight sequence where one dude beats up a gang of 20 with a hammer; the whole fight is done in a single take.

Lady Vengeance wasn't as good as Old Boy, but it's worth watching. The Korean woman who stars in it is really hot, and the movie has a really interesting, offputting way of delivering information. The ending, unfortunately, is dragged out and lacks the punch the first half hour of the movie promises.

Old Boy, I understand, is going to be remade in the U.S. I can't see that being any good. They'll probably take a lot of the creepy and uncomfortable stuff out of it. And I heard Nick Cage was going to star in it. Ugg.

Lady Vengeance is a much better candidate for a US remake, I think. A straight forward Hollywood approach to the plot would do it some good, I think.

This is probably really old news for anyone on this site, and unfortunately highlights my unhipness, but I just heard the Hold Steady for the first time. They're pretty fucking good. Sort of like a hipster Springsteen vibe. I hope they don't sap out, though. The lyrics are really compelling, sad story songs, and in some of them I thought I detected a danger that they could fall off into Counting Crows territory.

I haven't had a drink since late November, which makes this the longest period in my adult life I've spent sober. I once interviewed Steve-O and he told me he spent one night off the sauce, and said "everything about not drinking was weird." That quotes been going through my head pretty much nonstop for the last couple of days.

I'm not in a program or anything; I was just sick in the beginning of the month and didn't drink becuase of that. Once I felt better, I figured I'd keep up the streak.

I've been waking up earlier, and much more hangover free than before. My girlfriend thinks I might be losing weight. However, I'm feeling surprisingly surly, and I've been smoking a lot more. I've also been buying scratch off lottery tickets, but I'm not sure that's at all related.

Now I'm curious about how long I can go. I kind of would like a beer, though.

I just found out that the dude who runs the sorta-famous New York blog http://theassimilatednegro.blogspot.com/ went to the same college I did.

Unfortunately, I found out about it because of this post: http://theassimilatednegro.blogspot.com/2006/11/breaking-trinity-colleges-assimilation.html

I was gonna email him and say something like "hey dude, I went to Trinity!"
Then I realized he wold probably just write me back and say "great, are you a racist, too?"
