Not that it should matter, but today I was happy to wake up and read that Harry Knowles (yes, studios still care what he thinks) said "Crispin was born for roles exactly like this. Mad genius. The Suicide Girls were born to be in movies like this! And god dammit I was born to compel you to watch this and I fucking loved it! This is so much more fun than any horror film that Dimension has actually released in years."

And both Horror-View and Dread Central have been really kind in their reviews. Of course there are others out there but I wanted to share some victories with you guys since I've been bitching about trying to get this film done for so long.

Took forever to get to San Diego. The traffic was miserable.

Then there was a mix-up at the hotel and my room wasn't available. They offered me another at the same price. It is an office suite. I suspect this is where some parties might happen over the next few days.

And, yes, that is Amina's animatronic replica from "The Wizard of Gore".

Flipper Kasten, Rest in Peace

On Friday, April 25th, the most marvelous cat that ever was, Flipper Kasten, left this world for the next.

He was 18 years old. Flipper touched many peoples lives with his tranquil nature, wise eyes and 34 pounds. He will be missed greatly.

Please keep him in your thoughts.

I can't stop smiling.

New post. Very brief.

Went to Boston for the East Coast premiere of "The Wizard..." blah blah blah.. Some stunning reviews. Others, in typical New England fashion called the film misogynistic.

Came home to my elderly and overweight roommate in the hospital. My ex had the boys at her house and Flipper was not acting right. If I were home I wouldn't maybe have noticed, 'cause, you know, I'm busy and shit.

He is very anemic and everyone (his doctors, my friends and family, etc) have prepared me for the eventuality so now... I must research good taxidermist. I mean, the best. So if any of you know anyone, I need to prepare now for this.

And I had a birthday. On the set. Apropos, really, although it was a long goddamn day. At the end, my girl showed up at my place at 4:15 in the morning with a birthday cake for me. Candles and all. So that's pretty fucking rad.

So. The best thing ever is going to happen to opera this year.

And it's based on, not one, but TWO of my favorite films: The Fly, and The Fly.

And David Cronenberg is directing it. An Opera. Of "The Fly". I'm not going to sleep a wink till then.
