Eric and I went and saw Mike Love’s Beach Boys at the Grove in Anaheim, I guess it was 2007. We each had a couple of beers. Mike Love asked the crowd to come down front and dance the night away. So there were a few of us that took him up on that offer. I ended up “high-fiving” Mike Love over ten times the rest of the show. He just kept coming back to me, and I was like “high-five” again!
Eric was laughing really hard, and so was I. It was a lot of fun seeing the band live, and dancing to so many of those hit songs!

I don’t care how non-politically correct it is, I will never stop eating sushi. For it is simply just too much of a joy to experience while I am here this short time on earth.
Die Antwoord...The Next Big Thing?
Zef so side....Wow. Will Die Antwoord be the next big thing?
Every time I make a bold prediction that an artist is going to break through and transcend with both sales and cultural impact I have been wrong....and I am still convinced that I would be exceptional A&R. I desire risk.
Shall we go through a few of the artists that I "thought" would be the "Next Big Thing?"
1995 Veruca Salt - On the strength of the "Seether" single that swept the airwaves in 1996 in Chicago (where I was living at the time), and then nationally, this song was an unstoppable, radio friendly, pop powerhouse of female-fronted vocal and dirty garage based guitar heavy alternative rock. In fact, the definition of it.
Rough and ready, pretty and powerful...was there anywhere to go but up? Chicago was on fire with artists like the Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair, Urge Overkill, Material Issue, Wilco, yes, Chicago was happening. Why wasn't Veruca the next big thing....even Volcano Girls was very...very catchy.
Who else did I bet on? Well, another late 90's Chicagoan of course, (that's where I was living remember)...Sister Soleil. I still contend that if Stella Katsoudas would have just stuck with her solo name, not confused the brand, and continued to craft songs with Howie Beno (of Kill Hannah, Jesus Mary Chain, Blondie, etc. fame) in the vein of "Bazamba" (her best track IMHO) then she would have completely dominated the moment post Bjork and pre Britney. She was one of Doug Morris's personal projects from Universal Music Group and when you know and "understand" that you are about to get that push clear through the current media muck then you best make the best of it.
Why wasn't Kill Hannah another total break through? Good looks, capable songwriting, an authentic fan base, and in a good position to take over when "The Cure" had jumped the shark. Mat Devine is a pure talent, a true talent...and if you listen to his "body" of work you will understand that he is the heir to Robert Smith's throne. Why not a hit machine? Timing and Marketing I suppose are the guilty suspects here.
Who else have I thought would be the next big thing?
Well, I have a few more...however, let's just jump forth to "Die Antwoord".
I am with Jimmy Iovine on this one. I would have signed them too. Yolandi Visser is a major star in the making, her future solo records alone will eclipse Gwen Stefani. Maybe not Bjork in artistic merit, or does she have the talent of Lady GaGa? Time will tell, I am excited though that something is happening in South Africa, and I am glad it's a woman that is the driving force. Because, that is the kind of guy that I am, I am happy when a woman gets a kick ass opportunity and capitalizes on it. Maybe, that's why I am PJ Harvey fan...although, the fact she is uber sexy certainly doesn't hurt, nor PJ either.
Let's talk about Yolandi Visser, who will soon eclipse Die Antwoord's fame...I love her bad haircut. She has a mouse like presence, attractive, skinny, emaciated, powerful vocals, disturbing, sexually advanced....blonde...confident...ready to Fuck you up...bring it on!
Will Die Antwoord be the next big thing? Well, if my history is a prediction....then no.
I have renewed faith (thank you Yolandi)....it will be great to be wrong this time.

Can anyone help me finance 1.9 million business loan dollars at 9% interest to take over a Hotel/Lounge on the Oregon Coast?
Business plan already intact...ok? Need silent partner.
***Edited 10/23/10...Never hurts to ask out there in the world!

I don't understand the "pierced nipples" thing. When I want to suck on a nipple I don't want a big piece of unsanitary metal stuck in my mouth scraping my teeth...I want to only suck on the fucking natural nipple!
