It just dawned on me: get a new job, get a new apartment . . .

The sooner I have a new job, the sooner I can afford to live on my own again.

The sooner I can live on my own again, the MUCH happier I will be.

And the sooner I'll be happier, the more productive I will be.

It won't be easy; it might not be soon. But I vow to make it as soon as possible.

Your likely won't see many more journal entries until I accomplish #1. I'll be too busy gunning for it!

The B-I-G D-A-Double-D-Y K-A-N-E is in a Z-to-the-O-to-the-M-to-the-B-to-the-I-to-the-E movie.

Hip-Hop's come a long way.

Wait 'til he comes in at the end.

It's a very bad week to have a birthday.

35 will not be a milestone for me. I'll have to make it a prime number instead.

To be continued. . . maybe. . . whatever

This just in:
Sharon Stone is a very dumb cunt.

And now back to our regularly scheduled journal. . .

I saw the new Indiana Jones movie the other night. . .

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

It just shouldn't have happened. Not that it wasn't a fun adventure, and there were a few redeeming qualities, like the nazi getting eaten by the ants, but the comedy came across as part of the adventure, rather than sidedish relief to the otherwise thrilling, scary, dramatic ride that a proper Indy film should be. The film jumped the shark as soon as LeBeouff showed up with the Actor Without A Cause get-up, which is inexcusable for Spielberg (but to be expected from Lucas). The son angle was also unacceptable. Please explain to me how these guys have watched films in the past 15 years and come to the conclution "everybody else is doing these story devices, so we should too." Rather than stepping up to the standards of filmmaking that they weined us on and building a better storyline mousetrap, they just copied the filmmaking generation they mentored by default but who couldn't continue the legacy. Seriously, if we didn't owe them for the firsdt 3 Star Wars and Indy 3, Jaws, Goonies, and Close Encounters, I'd say that I'd be out to kick Spielbergs ass. But he's just lost it, and I don't want to pick unnecessary fights with fillmakers (just ones who have it coming to them).

Indy 3 may have been the biggest departure of the series, but at least that one was designed to answer some of the mysteries of the character that had been established in the first two. And despite its flaws, it gave you insight into the hero's origins, some good adventures (not that this one didn't), references back to the previous entries, and the classic "ride off into the sunset" end shot. All that this one did was explain the mystery of a son that didn't need to exist! And a name like "Mutt Williams?". You can kiss my ass on that alone!

Not that this one didn't deliver on a few notes. I liked the idea that Indy was once a military man, but that should have been tied to his professor/adventurer identity better. Some of the action sequences were kinda cool, and I don't even mind the alien presence (at least they had the integrity for Indy to be a nonbeliever until a logical justification for him to believe), but the forest jeep chase was way too cartoonish, even for a Spielberg film. And nutshots are funny belong in Soth Park, Zucker, and Mike Judge worlds. Not here.

I don't think these guys (Spielberg-Lucas-Ford-Frank Marshall, and let's face it, that pretty much is the team) just called it in, but I do think it proves that they've lost their touch with audiences. Its sad that these filmmakers are going to be relegated to the era of our childhoods, but then again, nothing lasts. Forever. We all get old, tired, lose it, and retire. The Indy filmmakers have, they just didn't realize it, and neither did I, until I saw this film.

At the risk of quoting the actor who didn't appear in the film from a movie that had nothing to do with the franchise, "here endeth the lesson."

Debating how to celebrate my 35th, coming up soon. There's this, and it would be nice to see the Fedor / Tim match live, but I detest Affliction in general, so unless I come up on comp tickets, I know it'll be just another WFA or Bodog show.

There's also this Now I have never been a big Bruce Lee geek, but I also wonder why I never was that geek as a kid. I attribute it to identity issues, for which I had to enlist the help of Spike Lee, Malcolm X, and Chuck D, but part of the lesson I learned led me back to my own culture. The Lee family is probably the most well-known Asian-American family, short of John and Yoko (never a fan at all). I'm afraid the whole thing will be just a giant geek convention with some souvenirs under glass and a few photo opps with Linda and Shannon. I'm not interested in that stuff. I think I'd want it to shade some light on being mixed and living healthy, the former of which I'm finally at peace with and the latter of which I'm already on board. So would it pay off?

Gotta shake this whatever funk. Gotta get myself back on track. Word EL SUICIDO LOCO .

The weekend started out with an apology from my friend, with whom I fought earlier in the week. That was good, and important. A big step for her and a sigh of relief for me. I hate fighting with her.

I met some new good people from the business. Thought I'd fallen out of touch. I guess not by much.

Lots of MMA fights this weekend. I have to say, one of my favorite things has become to watch Japanese MMA live (in the middle of the night) on HD-Net. Besides it being some of the best fights on the planet, there's also a certain magic that comes with experiencing something live. You know the feeling. And then, suffering through staying up throughout the night to experience it, kinda makes the whole thing sweeter. Peace to Joachim "Hellboy" Hanson and Eddie Alvarez
for a match worth waiting for. And to two very loose cannons, in Nick Diaz and Jason Mayhem Miller.

And peace to getting to hang out with my baby sister, JJ_R0x0rz

Saw Atmosphere tonight. Good show. Had a female friend with me. She'd never seen Atmos before. So in good Slug fashion, what happens?

We get in a fight right after the show. She grabs her stuff from my place and she drives off.

Yeah, that's good. blackeyed

JJ_R0x0rz is the best little sister in the world. This is why. . .

Isn't she adorable? She'll demon rape you.

Back to London next week, for a week. Any local spots / members I should try and hit up?

As we wrap up our adventures on this side of the pond, I can tell you that London has

and this. . .

but it also has this. . .

and as the old Irish eyes will attest. . .

its okay to celebrate being Celtic every week!

Some people have the luck of the Irish. . .

And some people, ironically enough, don't. . .

but Saturday night's all right for fighting, so let's start the show. . . .

Edited to add:: I'm too damn tired to redo all these pictures. The first one says "Meat Buffet." The second one says "Cockfosters." The third one says "Donuts - As Fresh as A Daisy."
Buzz Berry on the right knocked out Ken Shamrock on the left. There's a hot chick in the cage on the right of the last picture, her name is Mila and she was, in my opinion, the sexiest one there. Good night!

Peace to Mason Novick for his success with JUNO (that's how you write it if you're really in the biz).
