So, I would say the comic convention folks would be smart to take steps to prevent their event from becoming convention of professional models. Now SG is different from these companies who hire models for the event, in that the SG models ARE the company's product. Based solely on the issue of preventing the convention from being overrun by hired models, I'd say that comic conventions don't have a strong case for banning SG. However, it's also the case that SG deals in adult entertainment that's inappropriate for children, and children will be attending the convention. That does alter the equation.
Looking at the overall picture, it's understandable why a comic convention might choose to not allow SG to participate. It probably would have made more sense for them to avoid pissing off SG and its fans by allowing a low-key SG presence, but as this comic convention thing mushrooms I suspect they're feeling intense strain in their efforts to prevent it from experiencing a MySpace-type implosion...
