Learning to Lindy Hop and loving it. Gotta love the old dances - a great mix of formal structure, but you get to touch eachother!
Hope everyone's having a wonderfully great time. I got to see the sun rise over the Sierra Nevada today. A true delight.
Anyone know of any good things to do in Oxnard? I have to go there next week for work - for 4 days. Luckily I'll be hitting LA for 2 days before. I haven't been back since '03. I can't wait to take a ride on the Metro. Never been on it, but I love the fact that 2% of the funding for their transportation projects go towards art in the stations!
I'm back from my 6 day road trip. I love the Great American West. No way to overstate it. The shot below is from south-central Nevada along Highway 345, otherwise known as the Extraterrestrial Highway.
No sexual abuctions for us along that road, sadly enough. But at least there were amazing views of the Milky Way.

My bro's moving to NYC. That' calls for a roadtrip. Who wants to fly when you can get a car (in this case for free by chance) and drive across this great land, meet people, go to places you've never been to, and see how beautiful this land is. I'm only going as far as Santa Fe, NM with him, then I fly back to SF and go back to work. But we'll be taking a nice 6 days to do that.
We'll be staying off the interstate as much as possible, going through the middle of Nevada, possibly on the Extraterrestrial Highway, to Caliente, NV. Then to Arches Nat'l Park in Utah, and stay with friends of friends in Ouray, CO. I hear you can't drink much at 8000 feet, i.e. you're drunk after 2 drinks. Then it's to Santa Fe.
He'll then continue to Ada, OK, up the Mississippi to Chicago, and then back over to NYC. Then he starts art school in a Master of Fine Arts Photography program at SVA in Manhattan. I'm really excited for him- both for school and for NYC.
Anyway, he's running around like a chicken with his head off packing and boxing and throwing things out. I'll do as much as I can. Hope we can get out the door by 9pm tonight.

Jury duty. I got my first summons for jury duty one day before my vacation. Then I got back 2 weeks later and almost forgot to go. This morning I had to run to the courtplace (it's not in one of those Hollywood-like courthouses so I can't really call it a courthouse.) and I was 40 minutes late. Luckily a bus came right when I needed it.
Went through the metal detector (nothing like the airport ones which kept zapping me for a shirt with metal buttons) and downstairs to the "Jury Room". A "very interesting" video was on showing people what it was to be on a jury. I checked in - no big deal. I guess you can be 40 minutes late in San Francisco for Jury duty. Good thing since 8:30am is a bit early for me.
Anyway- I luckily got out of a case of wrongful death due to aspestos. I couldn't afford to pay the rent if they had taken me for the 3 week trial. I'd really like to serve on a jury, but it would be much more interesting if they at least paid you minimum wage.
After getting off, I went straight back to work. This time I walked- it was such a beautiful day, even walking through the Tenderloin.

I just had a Henry Weinhardt's beer for the first time in about 2 years. They've changed the label! I'm so superficially upset. Now it looks so corporate and modern. I loved the old school label a la 1800. At least it tasted the same.
Just bought a new magazine that's only up to issue #2. It's called Mononcle. I stumbled on it while perusing a local (and independent) newspaper shop on Polk Street. Apparently it's made by the publishers of Wallpaper. I read a good article on oil in Norway and how it's made their country so rich, however the country has one of the highest sick leave levels in the world.
Monocle magazine

On another note, it's great to kiss a great kisser. Happily that happened recently.

Slowly but surely entering the world of SG. Need to get away now to do more stuff today, i.e. laundry and write an article proposal for a newspaper or journal. My question of the day: Why do most women shave their bush? I've never quite understood the motivation. Plus I like bush. It can be long, short, fuzzy or trimmed but it's better for me if it's there.
Can someone inform me on what they consider a GOOD blog. I'd like a good starting point so I'm looking for good examples.
