So the show on Saturday could have gone better.

We were already hurting with no bass, but then the monitors they were using SUCKED and the sound guy seemed to have an obsession with pumping my kick drum's volume to ridiculous levels.

My monitor did nothing but pop the whole time and The Nothing's monitor simply stopped working. All this and some other stuff resulted in us not being able to hear SHIT of each other. We made it through the first and second songs pretty well, but the third went horrible. The last two ended up mediocre.

Between us concentrating to not screw up due to being deaf to each other and the band simply not getting into it... we put on a shitty performance energy wise.

Remember folks, the more crazy YOU get, the more crazy the BAND gets... just stand there and we have nothing to work with.

But in the end a few people really dug us, some bands included. They could tell our issues were technical and that what were were doing musically was really cool.

So, while it could have been much better - I guess it could have been much worse too.

Yesterday was Mom's Day. It's an awkward day for me. I love my mom, I do. But... I'm not close to either of my parents. So I went to a late lunch with them, but didn't get her a card or anything like that because I just don't like the idea of getting something for getting something's sake. If there is no real heart behind it, what's the point?

I guess some may say that makes me a bad son, but personally I just don't want to bullshit and placate my mom. She deserves better than that. The lunch was nice, though.. we chit-chatted a bit and then went our separate ways once again. Sometimes I feel bad because my parents are getting old and don't do much. Both of my brothers have moved thousands of miles away and I'm the only one near by, yet they never see me and when they do it's only briefly. But it's very difficult for me to just all of a sudden be all into family time now after 25 years of there never being family time.....

So as some or all of you may know, my band has a HUGE show Saturday - The VA Death Fest. A 2 two day festival of metal with both local and international acts.

So as, of course, we're all very excited about this it only seems appropriate that something horrible happens.

Late Monday night Bryant, our bassist, was in a bit of an accident. While sitting atop a friend's car, hanging out in front of a house, his friend decided to start driving.

Bryant tried to jump off before things got bad, but they did anyways. When he landed he was going to fast, fell backwards onto his head, and then the momentum somersaulted him a few times backwards, eventually skidding on his face to a halt.

He went into seizures and convulsions and was rushed to the emergency room.

The doctors are pretty sure he's going to be ok, he's making amazing progress, but he'll be bed ridden for 2-3 weeks to make sure his brain doesn't start bleeding again and there is no swelling.

So.. not only is my friend critically injured, but it means our first big show - and one where big name acts will see us - will sound like crap with no bass.

Had a great weekend again this past.

Went to Busch Gardens and rode some rollercoasters. Holy crap the Griffin is AWESOME. 200 ft 75mph 90 degree drop!! And just before the drop the dangle you helpless for like 5 seconds. I was in the front row thinking I may die.. but that if I did, that'd be an awesome story to tell in the afterlife.

Yesterday I was lazy and ordered in pizza for lunch and then went to see Dave Attell live at the comedy club near my house.

Next weekend will be probably our biggset show ever for Malthus and will hopefully get to drink with Randy Blythe of Lamb of God/Halo of Locusts fame.

There were tons of other pictures, but as I don't necessarily have the permission of others in the photos to post them here.

My weekend was awesome. Hard Rock Park was a blast, Medieval Times is awesome, and hanging out in the hot tub drinking Captain and Coke was nice and relaxing.

I absolutely love hanging out with my Fraternity Brothers. They are a nice nerdy break from real life. And while we all differ considerably, it's nice to see all of us bond on common grounds regardless.

I spent way too much money, though. Like 500 bucks. So much money for 1 weekend. But oh well. Worth it. Now I have to start preparing for the VA Death Fest coming up... hopefully will have LOTS to talk about as that gets closer.

So.. either something is being screwy and I'm not getting my messages or.. something.

I've had two email alerts saying people sent me messages, but when I click the link it says the message doesn't exist.

Or perhaps the messages are getting deleted by the sender before I can read them... I'm not sure.

But if it's the former and not the latter, I apologize to anyone I don't respond to. I promise it's not intentional.

Heading to Myrtle Beach this weekend to party with my Brothers and all our sexy lady friends. I'm sure there will be much debauchery as there is every year. In the plans is to get into the Limited Opening of Hard Rock Park to check it out. Probably some Medieval Times. And of course drunken running through the hotel.

I'll possibly have pics to post afterwards. We'll see.

In other news, finally got a hold of the promoter for the VA Death Fest May 10/11. Malthus (my band) will be officially playing on the 10th. Got our tickets to sell. If you're local and in the area and want tickets shoot me a message and I'll try to get in touch with you.

The above is the poster for the event. They made the poster before we signed on, so of course you don't see our name there. But rest assured, we will be bringing the noise that evening.

We should have our first run of shirts printed up as well, I believe we're selling them for a measly $5. So bring an extra Lincoln if you want to show your support and rock a T-shirt with this sweet logo on it:

If any SGs come to the show I can probably get you a shirt for free, messaging me ahead of time will guarantee I save you one.
