So I like sports. Not in the "I watch Sportscenter every night and can tell you the batting average of the top ten hitters in both leagues right now" sort of way but I do enjoy the thrill of competition and watching people excel in their chosen field. I guess this translates to everything though, I can appreciate a good band, a solid theatre performance, well designed crafts and such. Ya' know, the good stuff. Point being, it was a fun sports weekend for me.
For those who don't know, a fellow Texan and bike racer won his fifth Tour de France last weekend. This is not just any bike race either. These guys go appx. 2000 miles in about 25 days through the hills, valleys and high mountain ranges of France. Anyone who wins this race once is special. Anyone who wins it five times is great. This guy and one other person have won it five times in a row, that makes them legendary. Plus, this was the centennial for the bike race so it was extra special. This race is one of those things I hope to witness someday.
Also, I managed to feel really good about my excercise routine this weekend. I recently began to get back into the whole fitness thing. Mainly because I am tired of being the skilled but out of shape guy on my sports teams. Well, I was out doing my weekly, long bicycle ride and I met up with this guy about midway through. We paced each other pretty well for about 10 miles and I was able to keep up as well as pace him. There is just something so very satisfying about looking down at your spedometer, seeing that you are going 20 MPH and realizing that your legs are doing that all by themselves! I went a total of 30 miles that day. smile
Alright, that is about it I suppose. I am going to Salt Lake soon to see some friends and play some Ultimate, I'll let y'all know how that trip goes when I get back.

I know what you mean-- I have no outrageous hard-on for sports anymore, but seeing Eddie Murray at the Hall of Fame....I grew up with the Orioles. He was the athlete of my youth, more than Joe Theismann or John Riggins, or Cal Ripken or Dennis Maruk, that when he stepped up to plate...you knew he could win the game outright. A spooky aura, too; never talked to media, never talked to anyone, with that stoic, deadly stare...
As long as you know that about Hitchens, that's fine, by all means root for him...but seek out that Ignatieff if you can. When I see Sid Blumenthal or that Blinded by the Right bum badmouth Hitchens, it makes me fuggin' furious, believe me. The entire Clinton administration gave Democrats a bad name, and Hitchens is so on point about it. Bravo to him.

Boyfriend?! I laugh in the faces of boyfriends. I, Delilah, do not have boyfriends...or girlfriends for that matter. Now that you mention it, I lack friends in Missoula in general. I'm just so unpopular. Perhaps me being nekkid at Fred's will help?

Yeah, you need to come to Flathead. That would rock! Such a beautiful place and we can part-ay it up at your friend's place. Then we can get down in the El Camino. Woooha!

And your journal entry reminds me that I have to get off my lazy ass and do some exercise. Blah!

D-dawg.

Thank you for the b-day wishes! It may not be strange that I have the same b-day as your sister, but I used to work with 3 other people who had the same b-day. THAT was weird.

I am also a fan of sports. I do tend to watch SC everyday but that is since I have a 6 hr. difference from the east coast I tend to miss everything (except my Braves games, I get up early for those)

i can get the gist of written and spoken italian, as long as it's relatively simple (same for portuguese and, to an extent, french), but i don't know if i really understand it. i've been off-on teaching myself italiano and portugues for a while now. mmmf.

I've been horribly lazy for a while, well for my whole life actually. So it wasn't your journal entry that got me thinking.

The job. I didn't get the position, which makes me happy because now I have to hold out. The job market sucks in Montana, but I don't want to be in a position where I'm taken advantage of like I am right now. Sp we'll see.

Everything is getting better though. I'm not half as tired nor am I sad. Yay!
