I read a short article in Scientific American today about how they have discovered organisms that live in the fur of sloths that could be used to cure various diseases like cancer and what not. And just when I thought sloths couldn't get any neater...
We think that our newest foster dog, Heather, may have gone into labor. The shelter told us she was expecting, but weren't sure how far along she was. I picked her up yesterday. She was so nervous when I put her into my car. She rode shotgun, like a good co-pilot should. She had been an owner surrender. Surprise, surprise...they dropped her off because she was knocked up. What's really sad is that my organization does low or no cost spay and neuter surgeries in that county. Some people really are a special kind of stupid. Though I guess it could have been worse. They could have let her have the puppies and then left them in a box on the side of the road...
(For those of you who don't know, I work with an animal rescue group. We take dogs and cats from high kill shelters and find them homes or send them to larger rescues up north to find homes up there.)
