Late nights call for inspiration. The other night I found it at the late night Korean grocery.

That's right...Milkis. The wonderful milk+unknown flavor soda from our friends at Lotte. As the catchphrase says, "A New Feeling of Soda Beverage!". Fueled by several bottles of this stuff I attemped to make a song that could convey the power of Milkis to one and all. Listen for the Leo Kottke sample (which I used because Kottke sounds a little like Lotte....well sorta).

I haven't had one of those types of bithdays in a while. You know, the kind where you wake up in your friend's bathtub? Of course you know, I think I saw you and your evil twin there too.

I can only blame myself for accepting absolutely any drink that was put in front of me, which included (in no particular order): white russians, laphroaig whiskey, guinness, and some weird benedictine brandy in honor of the new and very evil looking pope. That pope liquor tasted like alcoholic ricola cough drops...echh!

One friend gave me a bunch of bootleg dvds from chinatown...watched Kung-Fu Hustle today..eeek

Jeez...thinking of things to put here is hard.

Well...I became an active citizen and attended the S.F. City Hall meeting concerning the disc golf course in Golden Gate Park. After two hours of many, many supporters and five opposers the result: the permit was extended for sixty more days to allow further review of our flying discs' impact on the environment. Witnessing some bureaucracy first-hand was neat...dicovering that my car was towwed because the meeting went on too long...not so neat. $170 in impound fees later and I've decided not to renew my registration, mostly because I can't afford it.

Uhhhhh...the artichoke I planted in my girlfriend's yard is finally flowering and my mouth is watering thinking about steaming those suckers. I think I will dip one exclusively in butter whereas another will be drowned in aioli.

There's this website called strandbeest and it features this really neat walking sculptures...watch the films!

Also..I implore you...go to rubric_perisarc's website and embrace the joy that is ALERT. For really reals. Really.

I suck at the whole "blogging" deal.

Let us see...I got new tires for the bike. I started playing drums again after quite a hiatus in a folky-krautrock band. Looking for a better job as the current one is killing my poor car. Improving the frisbee golf game. In fact, I finally went to the course in Golden Gate park and sucessfully represented the East Bay in an impromptu doubles match. The course has only been there for 18 months on a trial basis. In April there will be a city hall meeting to determine whether it will stay, so I may have to show up. In love with a girl and feeling generally dandy.

How are you?

Dear person who stole BOTH wheels on my bike,

Thanks!

love,
Groot McRidesthebus

p.s.- Getting the back wheel off must've been awful tough! Way to go the extra mile!

here's a little diddy for you. it's very unfinished but a nice little beat slicing exercise...for me at least. robot

here's what I've been staring at for the last few hours.

the "bad" meter is telling me I've got too many things going on for my computer to understand and render accurately. the thing is, I really like the way everything starts to go to shit and sound like all technology is dying a horrible skipping death in an ampitheater. so rather then get a new computer, I'll see how this goes.

Interesting new form of life!

Greatness is a transitory experience. It is never consistent. It depends in part upon the myth-making imagination of humankind. The person who experiences greatness must have a feeling for the myth he is in. He must reflect what is projected upon him. And he must have a strong sense of the sardonic. This is what uncouples him from belief in his own pretensions. The sardonic is all that permits him to move within himself. Without this quality, even occasional greatness will destroy a man.

-from "Collected Sayings of Muad'Dib" by the Princess Irulan

I'm reading Dune, I suck.
