Im going to have a sunday rant about politics.

In the UK as some of you non Brits may not know we have a very dull, aged and uninspiring group of politicians to contend with. There is no glamour of a live televised debate or the excitement of a presedential primary. Its a simple vote. The three main parties to choose from are Labour, Liberal Democrats and the Conservative party. Now, I`ve always been swayed by the first two in that list, but over the last couple of months I have been seriously impressed by David Cameron, the leader of the Conservative`s. I made a point of witnessing all of the above parties annual confrences and can honestly say that the stand out party was that of Cameron`s. Labour are its own worst enemy at the moment, imploding from party in fighting and backstabbing, Nick Clegg of the Lib Dems has about as much charisma as an actual piece of steaming shit. His policies are built on unattainable targets and goals. They are without doubt a bandwagon party. Anything that is poplular they hitch a ride. Cameron for me is worth a shot, he is a family man with family issues close to his heart. He recently lost his young disabled son, so he seems more real to me for some reason. He applauds the NHS for the care they provided while his son was alive. Education is a top target for him also due to his other young children about to go through our constantly failing education system,. So come next year when its time to vote unless the two parties that i normally vote for have a massive overhaul of staff and realist ideals I for once will be dipping my toe in the pond of the Conservative. Lord only knows it cant get any worse than it is already.!

Fin.

Yeah, I keep being flabbergasted and saddened everytime someone dies. frown It's so sad, and I feel like I keep losing people, even though most of them are celebrities or just friends and family of my friends. It still feels so close and personal for some reason. blackeyed

Yeah, same, especially with really young people (like Heath Ledger and Stephen Gately) I find I start worrying about people around me dying, because I realise how fragile life is, and that anyone can just die, like, tomorrow. eeek

You may not have live televised debates or exciting primaries, but at least the Parliament sessions include loads of jeering and shouting . Not that that leads to any problem solving, apparently, but it's far more exciting than any session of the U.S. Congress! biggrin

Great little rant on politics - it is the same everywhere - people expect one man to change the course of history - sorry that doesn't happen. It is up to us the people to get off our butts and do it.

and thanks for the friend request - you rock.

Oh dear. Us conservatives aren't so bad. I think you'll eventually see most of the world shifting that way before long. Germany just had a landmark election. And here in the states. The libs days are numbered. 2010 and 2012 will be a complete overhaul. I hope! We're you a Tony Blair fan? That man was a superb leader in my opinion. Socialism only works for so long. I just hate that in order for us here in the US to realize that, that we have to watch all the others fail at it.

And I just noticed your only 23. And considering voting conservative. Good for you! Most of the young people in this country are Democrats. They all believe everything should be handed to them. They almost act is if work is a four letter word. smile
